For Meg and Calvin walked the hallway between classes hand and hand. Calvin and meg didn't have any classes together. He could only see her in the halls, at recess, and at lunch. Meg and Calvin had to separate forget there classes.
"I'll see you around." Calvin nicely.
""See ya" meg said with a smile on her face. They separated and went to their classes. The whole class meg couldn't focus on anything but Calvin. He was a total distraction. Now that things were different meg felt like she could finally let all the feeling that she was holding in, come out, unfortunately this still meant that meg couldn't focus. So when the teacher called on her to answer a problem, meg froze and couldn't answer. The other kids laughed but knowing that Calvin was gonna be with her soon was all she needed to stay out of this pit of humiliation. As soon as class was over Calvin and meg reunited in the halls. They walked slowly towards each other.
"Hey again." Meg smiled.
"Hey." Calvin smiled.
"Time for recess." Meg told in a silly yet serious way. Meg and Calvin started to walk outside.
"Don't say recess. Makes me feel like I'm the same age as Charles Wallace." Calvin groaned at the lack of adulthood.
"Yeah but never the same intelligence." Meg pointed out.
"I wish. Charles Wallace just incredible for his age. I wish I was only as smart as him. I'm just stupid though." Calvin said sadly feeling inferior.
"Your Not stupid Calvin. Your so smart." Meg said trying to cheer him up.
"Wish my dad felt that way." Calvin said disappointed as He drops  his head.
"I bet way deep deep down he's just a little proud of you." Meg tried to pull of his spirits a bit.
"C'mon meg. I know you saw it. The vision that the happy medium showed us. You saw him yell and ridicule me. He'll never be proud of me." He said in complete despair.  They made it outside and sat down on a bench.
"Your still amazing Calvin. Natter what your dad or anyone thinks." Meg told him honestly.
"No I'm not. I have so many faults." He admitted.
"Like what?" Meg asked not convinced.
"Remember What Charles Wallace said. How I'd try please everyone but know I will never live up to the standards of my father."  Calvin remembered. Meg remembered as  well. She also remembered the way Charles Wallace wasn't himself that day.
"That wasn't Charles Wallace." Meg argued the point.
"It was still true. I'm still the same Calvin that didn't live up to my dads expectations." Calvin said hurt.
"Your also the same Calvin that made me feel something." She said intertwining their fingers."something that was more than myself. I was happy for the first since my father had disappeared." She admitted with a single tear falling down her cheek as she looked down. Calvin just started at her like a dope.
"Really. You felt that way about." He asked surprised. She nodded still with her head down. He held her hand tighter.
"Like I said Calvin. Your amazing." Meg told him sure of himself. It made Calvin important. Like he actually had some meaning in his life other than basketball and popularity.
"You know your the only person in the universe who could make me feel the way I do right now." Calvin said sweetly. Meg looked at him with a glimmer in her eyes that made Calvin go into a daze. The way Calvin looked at her made meg melt. Meg heard a yell. it sounded like Charles Wallace. He went to look and instead of seeing Charles Wallace she saw a basketball in her face. The basketball had hit her right in the face. She fell off the bench onto her back from the hard impact of the ball. she then heard laughing. No doubt from Veronica.
"It's weird, I didn't make it in the hoop but It was still a good shot." Veronica said smugly. Other girls laughed as Veronica looked directly at meg with a giant smirk on her face. Meg held her hand over her eye.
"Oh my god meg are you ok." Calvin immediately said looking at her worried.
"Yeah I'm fine." Meg winced. Calvin didn't believe her and removed removed her hand from her tight eye. It was all black and bruised. A trickle of blood dripped from Meg's nose.
"Cmon lets get you to the nurse." Calvin said helping meg up from the ground. As they went on their way they heard laughter. They made it to the nurse and the nurse gave Calvin the ice pack. Calvin went to sit with meg.
"Thanks cal." Meg said reaching for the ice pack.  Calvin jerked his hand away.
"Let me get it." Calvin said putting the ice pack on Meg's right eye. Meg smiled at him.
"Veronica is such a jerk." Meg said angrily
"We know a lot about her meg. We know she has issues" Calvin reminded her seriously.
"That doesn't mean she has to be such a....." meg said madly before getting interrupted
"Calm down. I know but we can't exactly confront her about it." Calvin points out.
"I guess." Meg sighs sadly.
"It's gonna be ok alright. I'm here." Calvin reassured her.  Meg sent a smile his way.
"I just can't deal with all the bullying." Meg said sadly.
"Who knows. Something could happen that will change Veronica." Calvin tried to cheer her up.
"Doubtful." Meg didn't have any hope. Calvin removed the ice pack to look at Meg's eye. It go worse. It was not even more purple than before.
"Is it bad." meg asked concerned for herself.
"Well it could be worse." Calvin said trying to make it sound like it was not that bad. Meg groaned a sorrow groan.
"Well I still like you." Calvin smiled. Meg smiled and began to blush a little. Calvin put the ice pack back on her eye.
"So are you exited for this Friday." Calvin asked trying to move the conversation.
"Well I.... I......Umm." Meg stuttered nervously. Calvin laughed a bit.
"You don't have to answer that" Calvin said as he laughed a bit more. Meg was a bit mad how she was so predictable.
"I'm exited." Meg told him nervously trying to prove that she wasn't always a nervous wreck. Calvin looked at her a little surprised and smiled more.
" me to" he said happily holding her hand
