Unexpected Meetings

Shravan's Pov-

I do not know why today,after 33 years I am having the same feelings all over again.That restlessness, that longing all over again.Why does my heart feel that she is here .No.Dont stress yourself Shravan.Dont forget you are married.Maybe today Your wife Yamini is no more, but you must remain faithful to her always.Do not think of another girl.No,you cannot cheat her,even in your thoughts.Get these bullshit feelings out of your head.Ugggh.. I should go for a stroll , that'll help to clear my mind.

Suman's Pov:

No.What I am even thinking! Aditya is my husband.Maybe he is no more but Thinking of any other man than him will be cheating.I can't do this.I have already wronged one man in my life.I cannot wrong Aditya, no I will not.I can't let these feelings hover in my mind anymore.Let me go for a stroll,meet new people, that'll help me forget this nonsense.

Pov ends.

Both Suman and Shravan close their doors and as soon as they turn back,they are shocked,rather turned to stone.They were unable to believe their eyes.

Here,they are standing in front of each other,after 33 long years.They weep silently as all their memories come down over them one by one. All their resolve to forget everything breaks down and they are about to hug when they suddenly realise that today their situation is different.They are married and they must maintain distance. Both of them step back.Thousands of emotions were brewing inside them.Facing the person whom you had loved passionately ,with whom you had dreamt of your beautiful future,and having them all shattered due to cruel plot of destiny, wasn't at all easy.It took a lot to control themselves.Finally, mustering courage,in an attempt to break ice,Shravan spoke up.

Shravan-"Mrs Suman Ahuja,how are you?It's been a long long time.And how is Mr.Aditya and your kids?"

Suman felt a pang in her heart but she brushed it aside and replied:

"Aditya is no more."

Shravan was shocked to hear this .
Suman continued-
"Aditya passed away of a heart attack last year.And my daughter,Shalini ,she got married two days ago.And now she will permanently settle in California with her husband Lalit . What about you? I heard you got married but never got a chance to see even a picture of her.I heard she was very beautiful".

Shravan chuckled on hearing her.
He replied,"Yeah,no doubt Yamini was very beautiful.But look at my destiny, she's no more.She met with a severe accident two years ago and left me alone forever .My son Vineet,well I was just a burden to him.He left for London 6 months ago and never bothered to even call and enquire about me .Since then,I am here. As I can see,you too are in the same situation".

Both Suman and Shravan sighed sadly ,but realised this is what fate held for them. Suman wanted to lighten up the situation.
She said:
"Mr.Malhotra, I just arrived here today morning.This seems like a good place.Would you mind showing me around and getting me acquainted with all the inmates.I would love to meet them."

Shravan was hurt to hear her addressing him by his surname but anyways he replied.

Shravan-"Yeah Sure ,Come let's visit the community activity centre first".

Shravan and Suman walked side by side to the community centre.

Both remembered the times when they used to walk together like this, holding hands , staying close to each other.And today,they are again walking side by side,but they are distant,not just physically,but mentally and emotionally.And there's nothing they can do to cut this distance.

Soon they reached the place and Shravan introduced Suman to all the inmates.Suddenly a 79 year old couple spoke up-"You two were lovers in the past, isn't it?"

Shravan and Suman looked at each other in shock and wanted to say something but before that the couple spoke up again.
"I know what you both are thinking.Trust me we both have gone through the same situation.I don't know what your story is.But there's just one thing I'd advise you.Learn to move on in life .Take your time,take things slow,but make sure it's not too late"

Shravan and Suman went blank on hearing those words.They were rendered speechless.Without another word,they walked back to their flats.And as fate would have it,their flats were right opposite each other.They were neighbours.

Shravan and Sumo had pondered over the couple's words for a long time.They didn't know how to react .They were devastated.

Their past had slapped them right in the face,and they were definitely not ready to handle all of this. The couple's words had clearly had a strong effect on them.But in what way,that is yet to be seen.
