The sound of the alarm woke Jaime and he groaned. He rolled over to snuggle closer to Scarlet, only to find the space next to him empty. Furrowing his brows, Jaime got up and went in search of his wife. He found her in the kitchen with their now 5-year-old twin boys. The boys saw him first and greeted him with chipper voices. Jaime ruffled their hair and smiled. "How are my boys this morning?"
"Good. Mommy is making us our favorite. Chocolate chip pancakes! Uncle Bronn already had some and left." Jaime gave both boys a kiss to the forehead before approaching Scarlet. They had been married for four years already, but it seemed like it was only yesterday. They had decided to wait until after the twins were born to get married, but then they had their hands full with two baby boys. It seemed best to wait until the boys were a little older.
"Mornin', Jaime," she greeted with a smile. Jaime turned her away from the griddle so he could kiss her. "EW!" the boys cried at the same time, making the two adults chuckle. "Chocolate chip pancakes, huh? The last time you made those for the boys was when you told them that they were starting what you called preschool. So, is it good news or bad?" Scarlet chuckled.
"Ya know me too well, Jaime. Alright, since ya asked, I do have some news. I've been looking for a new place for us to live." Jaime stared at her for a minute. "A new place? Why would we need to leave this one?" Scarlet gave Jaime a soft smile. "Eat first and then I'll tell ya." Stubborn as ever, Jaime shook his head. "Scarlet, what is it? Is everything okay?" Scarlet nodded. "Of course it is! Why wouldn't it be?" The boys looked at each other and started speaking in a language they made up. "Boys." They looked to their father, who then looked at Scarlet, prompting her to finish.
"Alright. We need to move. Soon, this house will be too small for all us and the dogs." Jaime looked confused. Scarlet let one of her hands come to rest on her stomach and Jaime's eyes widened in realization. "Are you?Again?" Scarlet nodded. Jaime scooped her up in his arms and held her close. "That is wonderful! Boys, you're going to be big brothers!" The twins cheered loudly, causing Chief and Brutus to let out a howl. Jaime couldn't believe his luck. He had everything he could have ever wanted, even when he didn't know he wanted it. He had his sons, his friend, a new baby on the way, and of course, his beautiful wife. The past in Westeros was all but forgotten. Savannah had been good to Jaime. It gave him everything. And now? The only thing that mattered was the present. His family.
