*3 Weeks Later*

Jason's P.O.V

I had been trying to reach Jade for weeks and yet I wasn't getting her. She was still mad about what happened on our date for sure. But it was just a misunderstanding. I didn't mean to get so aggresive with Jade, but at the same time I felt like the jealousy had taken me over and I felt bad about what I did.

I was walking down Elm Street, which is Derek's neighborhood. I was hoping that going to Derek for advice would help me beter rectify the situation. Approximately three houses ahead, I saw a girl with long black, highlighted hair, and a slim bodice that looked just like Jade's. Without thinking, I yelled after her. When she turned around I discovered it WAS Jade. When she saw me, she scowled and ran away. Huh? I had been looking for Hade all day in school, and yet she had been avoiding me all day I wasn't about to let her get away this easily. I followed her; until she finally stopped running.

Not in a way that said she wanted to talk to me though.

No, this was more like her just wanting to catch her breath.

"What do you want?" she asked. "I want to talk to you, Jade. I want to apologize." I replied. She folded her arms, and I noticed that her left hand was completely bandaged. "Your hand...." I said, gesturing to it.

You should know what happened to it." she said vehemently. Without waiting for a response, she turned and strode down the driveway of the house we were standing in front of.

"Wait," I said, finally aware of my surroundings. "Isn't this Derek's house?"

She pulled out a single key out from her pocket. "Yeah. I'm helping him rehabiliatate until he can go back to school, which would be tomorrow.I would expect you to know that." she said, gingerly pulling the key out and trying again.

"But Jade, I want to talk to you about us." I tried again. This time she opened the door and slipped the key back into her pocket. "Jason. I don't want to talk to you about this now. Goodbye." she replied. And with that, she slammed the door in my face.

Jade's P.O.V

I closed the door behind me and hung up my coat on Derek's coat rack. "Hey Jade." Derek said. His leg was now better, but he still had to use one crutch. "Hey Derek." I replied, as I threw my bag on the couch. "I saw what happened outside." he said.

"What?How?" I asked. He smirked.

"Did you forget the whoke first floor of my house has floor to ceiling windows?" he asked. I looked around, as if realizing for the first time even though I've been coming here almost every day for a month.

"Oh. Yeah." I laughed nervously.

"Are you ok? Is there anything you want to talk to me about?" Derek asked. Derek had become my friend and go-to guru over this past month. It was really as if he could detect what I nodded or wanted.

"Actually, yes. I wanted to ask you about something." I opened my bag and pulled out the necklace Derek's mom had given me at the hospital when Derek first had his accident. "Have you ever seen this before?" I asked.

I had always been meaning to ask Derek about this but I always had been sidetracked by something-- homework, extracirricular activities, memorizing lines for the play, and Derek and Jason's recent drama they had brought into my life, to name a few.

Derek looked at the necklace for a long time, as if he was transfixed.

"No, I can't say I have." he finally said.
