Tobias POV:

I open the door to our house, well, Marcus's house. I am grinning, and actually, truly happy. i haven't felt this happy since before my mother died. i sigh and set the keys on the table, i half walk, half skip up the stairs. i pass my father "Hello Daddy." i say with a smile on my face. i run to my room, quickly realizing that that was a big mistake. "What the- TOBIAS!" he roars. i walk out of my room and gulp. "Yes father?" i say with my head down and hands behind my back. "What the hell is wrong with you?" "ummm, beautiful day?" "i saw the whole thing, Tobias, i know how you act around her, trust me, no one will ever love you, not even that Beatrice, or any one else, she is way too good for you." his words stung, but i only shrink back in fear when i see what he is holding in his hands. a belt.

Beatrice POV:

i sigh and skip down the stairs and see my father with a puffy face and my mother frowning. caleb. where as i, am skipping down the stairs in delight. i immediately stop and walk over to my father, and put my hand on his shoulder. "Daddy, are you alright?" my mother shakes her head no and makes a hand gesture, telling me to go back upstairs.
