NOT A PART OF THE BOOK!!!
hi everyone☺️ that's @susankelechiwatson on Instagram and she's playing Lira's mom in my head😌
______________________________________I woke up to eight missed calls and two messages from my nana.

MyHeart❤️: Lira why aren't you calling me back? I told you we need to talk about something.

MyHeart❤️: it's not about your father.

I squinted through my sleep encrusted eyes and mentally eye rolled because my Nana always knew why I did the things I did without needing me to tell her. I sat up leaning on my elbow and tried to see the time on my screen through my blurry vision, 08:40. I was relieved it wasn't the middle of the night and a little sad I didn't get to sleep till noon. It's a Friday and that means I don't have any lectures until 15:00 and I love how this works because I get to read and make music and eat pizza.
I inwardly groaned as the memories of how Chase and I ended things last night flew up to my face. I didn't mean to be so side tracked by all of this and I should probably be glad he'd never try to hang out with me again and I could go back to living my normal boring life following my dad's orders and making an effort to keep in touch with Kai but who am I kidding. Nothing will ever be normal once you get side tracked by Chase Waters.
I fell back into my pillow and stared at my posterized ceiling. 'You should be reading!' the green one from the 2016 science fair I won in Durban said. 'Where's my mixer?' a hedgehog wearing headphones asked his friends on a yellow one I got with my third vinyl purchase from Rockefeller Plaza in Western Cape. I sighed as my eyes randomly skimmed over the rest of the ones I had up there. I keep posters on my ceiling because I like facing motivation first thing in the morning before I get out of bed. I rolled over until I landed on the cold and sat up grumpy. I am not a morning person.
I crawled my way out of my covers and didn't stand up till I got to my bathroom sink. I spread toothpaste on my brush and started the holy morning ritual with my mouth while I looked around my apartment. This block is off campus but close enough for walking and that's one of the things I admired about it when I applied here. I have one of the largest single deluxe rooms in the whole building. I don't have to share the studio sized apartment and that's okay with me because I don't fancy getting to know new people. I like to keep to myself. There are other rooms which people share here and also communal showers for those who prefer showering with other naked students.
I rinsed out my mouth and ran the hot and cold water into my tub. I walked back into my room and slowly stuffed all my hair into a thin shower cap. Curls are cool and all until they frizz up and you can't tame them. In a few minutes my water had almost filled the tub and I had mixed it to a delightful temperature.
I dropped a lavender bath bomb in there and stripped to get into the water. I love taking baths. I enjoy soaking every inch of myself in there until only my face is above the water. My mom used to let me do that in her ensuite before she left and I'd refuse to come out until my fingers were prune like.
I don't really know when I dozed off but the loud shrill of my ringtone pulled me back from the relaxed state I was in and I winced when I realised my water had gone cold. I quickly got out and enveloped myself in my fluffy morning gown before releasing the dirty water by unplugging the block.
By the time I reached my phone I had a missed call from my nana. This woman doesn't know when to quit. I called her back and put the call on speaker so I could apply my cream and get dressed while we spoke.
