After staying with Toriel for a few weeks, you began to wonder if there was anything more to the Underground. You had explored the entirety of the Ruins, and had already memorized all of the puzzles.
"Hey, Tori," You say to her slowly one morning. "I was wondering if I could go exploring outside of the Ruins for once."
Toriel glances up at you from her snail book, a worried look in her eyes.
"Why?" She sets the book down on her lap.
"Well," You say, stuffing your hands in your jean pockets and giving her a slight smile. "It's not like I'm a little kid."
Toriel studies you for a moment, knowing you enough by now that what you just said must be a pun, and your grin widens slightly when she finally understands. She laughs as she stands up, motioning for you to get your things.
"Come, my child." You grab your (f/c) puffy coat and slip on your shoes and follow her as she leads you downstairs. You take the time to look at your surroundings; she had never allowed you to go down there before.
You remain silent as you both walk through a long purple hallway. Finally, you reach a door.
Toriel turns to you and places a large furry hand on your shoulder, giving you a worried look.
"Do not hesitate to call me if you find yourself in any kind of danger." She tells you sternly, and you nod, careful to keep your smile on your face. "Promise me you wont stray too far from the Ruins without me! And you must come back before dinner."
"Of course, Tori. You can coat on it." You lift up the edge of your coat and she smiles down at you, giving you a quick hug before rushing off back through the hallway. You hear her mutter something under her breath... It sounded something like "they would be so cute together."
You furrow your brow. Is she shipping me with someone?
You just shrug off the thought and push open the door, taking a deep breath of the new air.
You blink when light you're not used to meets your eyes. You step out into cold and snow-- how is there even snow? You're Underground-- and shiver. You usual smile widens, however, when you realize you're in a forest.
Why? You ask yourself. Why do I like forests?
*You've always loved forests,* Someone answers in your head. *And you miss the one near your old house on the surface.*
You suddenly feel as if an empty space in your mind has been filled, and you feel amazing. Your excitement quickly makes you forget (temporarily, at least) about the mysterious voice, and you start walking through the trees.
You pull out your headphones and phone, playing (f/s) and putting one earbud in. You put your hands back into your pockets, your footsteps automatically matching the beat as you make your way further away from the Ruins.
A snapping sound from behind startles you, and you quickly turn around, taking the earbud out as you scan the trees surronding you. After not seeing anything, you reluctanly put the earbud back in and continue walking.
Soon, you reach a bridge-like structure. Before you can cross it, however, you have the strange feeling that someone is watching you. You slowly turn around, your heart stopping when you see someone standing behind you.
Their hood is up, and because it covers most of their face, you can't tell what kind of monster they are. You put away your phone as they start walking towards you, extending their hand once they're close enough. You have to tilt your head slightly to look at them: they're at least an inch taller than you (you're pretty short, so not that tall).
