Chapter 2
The morning came, and everyone at Pinkerton was in good spirits. Reuniting with friends and testing new resolves. Well almost everyone. Zero, having already seen all three of her friends last night had nothing else to look forward to so she was reset to her usual emotionless self.
They were all sitting waiting at their desks. Trixie noticed Zero's shift back to the normal and then remembered her conversation with Newton last night in the woods and decided the sooner the better right. She looked to Zero and watched the girl for a moment. She was still pale as hell after four years and her hair never changed color so it was safe to assume that it was natural. She still liked to wear large jumpers and black skirts with her thigh high bright green socks with her combat boots. And eyeliner. You never saw Zero without eyeliner. Yet she never touched any other form of makeup.
She noticed Trixie staring.
"What." she asked without real care.
"It's our last year Zero." The caramel skinned girl said.
"I know."
Trixie picked her next words carefully. And opted not to mention Vin directly in this first approach. "Don't you wanna at least try and make it fun."
The Emo barely raised an eyebrow. "I have fun." she stated.
Now if she had said that to anyone else other than Trixie she would have gotten away with the unnoticeable hint of uncertainty. But this is Trixie were talking about.
"Setting off bombs in Macbeths office is like the limit of your fun, you never do anything else except missions for I.N.K and stand around brooding, waiting for someone to say something you don't like so you have an excuse to stuff them in a garbage can."
Zero sighed "So you want me to do something else with my time?"
Trixie thought through a list of possibilities for a moment before she knew exactly what to say.
"As team leader, I'm declaring that you and I will experience high school this year. As if we were just normal teenage girls."
Zero seemed to internally groan at that. "Is there another option?" She asked with a smoldering hope.
"No." was the reply she received. "I order you to have fun."
Shortly after the teacher came in and the school year officially started. Much to Zero's horror.
