Hard times - Paramore
*
He shocked me. Like, really shocked me. His lips moved softly against mine while I stood there frozen. God, I must look so awkward. I felt his hands low on my hips and his mouth in mine and my eyes began to flutter shut. Just as I was about to jump to action and kiss him back, he pushed me away roughly. He had a look in his eyes of confusion and... disgust? He then looked apologetically at me.
"I- uh- I, um, sorry." He spoke quickly, the drink in him making his words slur together. He looked at me again, his eyes now dull and any look from before was gone. His pupils were slightly bigger and the whites of his eyes tinged with red. He blinked before turning away from me and leaving the room.
I stood there in complete shock. I could still feel his lips on mine, and the way his hands felt on my hips. Those large, muscular hands. Wait, no. He's my friend. My drunk, stupid friend. My lovely, sweet, best friend Harry. I touched my lips with my fingers, before realising how stupid I looked standing alone, confused, unmoving on a crowed dance floor with a load of horny teenagers. I looked around for Ches or Abi, but they were no where to be seen. I decided to leave my spot, but the drink got the better of me and caused me to trip over my own two feet. I fell to my hands and knees before I saw a hand reach down to me. I took the persons hand and they hoisted me up from the floor. He chuckled at me before I gave him and embarrassed smile before brushing off my knees.
"Thanks." I muttered, finally looking up at him. He had deep brown eyes and soft brown hair. He was fit, not as fit as Harry, I thought. No! Don't go there Florence!
"It's ok, are you ok? I'm Luke by the way." He gave me a soft smile.
"Yes thanks I'm fine, thanks for saving me from being trampled." I joked, giving him another smile. He chuckled again.
"It's no issue, really, my pleasure." He looked behind him into the kitchen before looking back at me. "Can I get you a drink? I've only just got here and I think I have some catching up to do." I giggled at him.
"I'm okay thanks, I had the kings cup in the game of ring of fire, I think I've had more than enough." We both laughed. "I should probably be going home actually, thanks again though." I smiled before turning to walk away. I spun around when I felt him grab my arm.
"Wait, can I walk you? I'm sorry if I sound forward but I don't really know anyone here and I like talking to you and-" he gushed. I laughed at him before nodding my head.
"Sure, if you really want to. I don't live to far though." He smiled and we turned to go and get our coats from the couch. I remembered I wasn't wearing any of my clothes and remembered I took my coat upstairs when I got here.
"Hold on, my coats upstairs, I'll be back in a sec." He nodded at me, before sitting on the sofa. I walked as quickly as I could through Ches's house and up to her room. I knocked before entering in case she was up here with someone. I got no reply so I walked in anyway. Relieved to find no one here I grabbed my stuff and put it in a bag before leaving again. I walked back through the house and back to the couch where I had left Luke. When I got there he wasn't anywhere to be seen so I decided to ignore and try to find Harry and see if he could walk me home. I began to dread finding Harry after what had happened, the look on his face after he pulled away caused me to feel a bit sick. Maybe that's the alcohol. I went outside to see if he was there, and instead I found Luke pushing some girl up against a tree and snogging her. Fuck sake. No, you just met him, you can't get annoyed, it's not like you're his girlfriend.
Before I was just about to give up looking for Harry I felt my phone buzz in my back pocket. I looked at the message.
From: Harry :)
Florence, are you ready to leave baby? X-
To: Harry :)
Yeah, I'm outside.-
From: Harry :)
Okay, I'll come and get you and we can walk home. X-
I decided not to reply, not seeing any point in it. I had a weird feeling in my stomach when he called me baby, though. He's drunk, get over it, he probably calls everyone baby when he's like this. The back door opened to reveal a disheveled Harry. He looked up at me, seeming to be devoid of any emotion. He grabbed my hand before coldly muttering 'come on let's go'. I gave him and odd look before running to catch up to him. He had a lot longer legs than me so he was already ahead of me."Harry, what's wrong? Look, I don't want what happened before to make things awkward for us and I just value you too much as a friend and-" I stopped when he looked at me, his eyes softer than before.
"Baby" again with calling me that, it gives me weird feelings.
"It's not you, I promise. I was drunk and stupid and that won't happen again." He turned and started walking again after giving me a soft smile. I stopped.
"Why are you pissed off then?" I questioned, causing him to stop and turn and look at me again. He was still holding my hand.
"This fucking girl back in there." He nodded at the house. "She got me all worked up and now I need to go home because she pulled out of what we were doing last minute and I have a problem I need to sort out." He said, looking uncomfortable and annoyed. I was confused, my brain was not completely coherent at the best of times but with alcohol mixed in I could barely follow.
"Okay" I muttered, deciding not to question him further. We walked in silence for a while, still hand in hand. This was my favourite thing with Harry, when we could just sit or walk or do whatever without having to speak to each other. A comfortable silence. I looked up to him, his curls were messy and his lips looking plump and chapped as he wore his natural pout. His cheekbones were prominent under the soft yellow glow of the street lights around us. His face was relaxed and looked at peace.
"Florence, stop staring at me please. It's creepy." I blushed and spoke without thinking.
"Sorry, it's just your cheekbones look great in this lighting." I paled. Why did you say that you idiot. Harry squeezed my hand and grinned down at me.
"Thanks, love."
"Love? What happened to baby?" STOP TALKING FLORENCE! He laughed quietly, shaking his head as he looked ahead again.
A few minutes later we reached my house. I turned to look at Harry. He smiled down at me.
"Florence, drink water before you go to bed. Otherwise you'll feel the Kings Cup in the morning." He grinned.
"Thanks Harry. Thanks for walking me home aswell." I grinned back at him.
"My pleasure love. Couldn't have my girl walking the dangerous streets alone at night." I laughed, knowing he was joking as where we lived was maybe one of the safest places ever. He pulled my into a quick hug before letting me go so I could get inside.
"See you later Harry."
"Bye, Florence." I smiled and shut the door on him. I went upstairs to change and take my makeup off before collapsing into bed.
Wait...
My girl?!?
