The doors to the cafe opened and the bells above jingled. Rikimaru Shiki stepped inside and was greeted by the staff. He smiled and sat in his usual spot; the booth in the corner next to the window. He enjoyed the view and the feel of this cafe. It seemed safe to him. Out of the way and quiet. Just the place where he can work and not be bothered by people. The staff here were like family and were always smiling and cheerful. Rikimaru also liked the management. The manager was a young lady that worked hard. He adored her. Rikimaru laid his briefcase down on the table and took out some documents. He stared at them until a server came to take his order. "The usual?"

Without looking up, Rikimaru shook his head. "No, give me black." The server scratched his notepad and left. Rikimaru concentrated on the documents, making little notes and corrections as he read through. He sighed.

A cup of coffee and saucer was placed in front of him and a slender, attractive, young lady with black hair cut short with bangs that covered the right side of her face, sat down across from him. He recognized her as the manager, Touka Kirishima. Rikimaru grimaced. "I'm sorry, I'm a bit busy right now." The lady looked around her to see if there were any other customers.

"Shiki Rikimaru, aka, White wolf, class S." Rikimaru sat up straight and looked Kirishima in the eye. His jawline tightened. "Who are you, really?" She met his even gaze with her own. She smiled.

"You're in the company of allies, Shiki-san. You're not the only ghoul here." The staff of the cafe stopped and smiled at the pair. Rikimaru relaxed a little. "Please call me Rikimaru, you don't have to be formal."

"Alright, Rikimaru. Then call me Touka." Touka gave a small smile. Rikimaru returned the smile. He straightened the documents and laid them on the table. "What do you want?"

"Straight down to business, I like that," she stated. Rikimaru cheeks colored, briefly. Touka caught sight of it. She gazed at Rikimaru and took in his appearance. His unkempt brown hair complimented his solid gray eyes. He wore a white shirt and business tie with gray slacks. Touka wondered why such a powerful ghoul would stake this place as his own. She cleared her throat. "I'm interested to know why you come here. You're not exactly the quietest ghoul around."

"It's quiet," he replied softly. Touka could see that she wasn't going to get anything else from him. She sighed. "Don't take this as an offense, you're always welcome here," she said as she got up from the booth. Rikimaru glanced up at her. Now or never, he thought.

"Touka." Touka looked over her shoulder. Rikimaru took a deep breath. "Would you mind going to dinner with me? I know this diner.."

"Sure," she smirked, "See you at 6." Touka walked back behind the counter and left Rikimaru sitting there, mouth gaping. I did it, he thought.

Rikimaru stood waiting at the door to the cafe. The sign read 'closed', even though the lights were still on. He was unsure if he should knock or wait for her to open the door. He was already nervous at the thought of spending time alone with Touka. He had on numerous occasions had small talk with her but this was the next step up.

The door to the cafe opened and Touka stood in the doorway. She was wearing a slim, sleeveless black dress that reached her mid-thigh. "Well, are you coming?" she smirked. Rikimaru shook his head and entered the cafe.
Soft lights played out across the cafe bar, illuminating the glasses and coffee mugs on the shelves. The mood was set in just the right amount of romance and mystery. Just like Touka, Rikimaru thought. Touka led him to the bar and he sat. Touka went behind the counter and made two cups of coffee. Rikimaru sipped at it and sighed with pleasure. "You truly make the best coffee."

"You truly are a mystery to me," Touka replied. Rikimaru glanced up at her. "An S rank ghoul. Your choice of food: CCG investigators. You're the worst ghoul around now with all the commotion you've caused. Yet, you come to this cafe for the peace and quiet. Your presence is threatening to us here at the cafe, but I refuse to kick our kind out." Rikimaru stared at his cup. His brows furrowed.

"Ms. Kirishima, I would never want to see this place harmed. I can promise you that."

Touka gave a small smile. "You remind me of someone I used to know." Rikimaru looked at Touka. She smiled sadly. "Maybe that's why I'm so attracted to you." Rikimaru blushed.

Touka came around the bar and took Rikimaru's hands. She planted a soft kiss on each hand. "You promise?" she asked quietly. Rikimaru realized that his answer would affect their relationship. He nodded. "I promise." Touka reached up and gently kissed Rikimaru. His eyes widened. "Don't disappoint me then," Touka whispered as she pulled away.
