Arthur's POV

I awoke with my arms wrapped around something large and warm - a body. "Mmm... Merlin." I muttered sleepily.

"What did you say?" I heard a feminine voice say, and I felt curly hair brush against my skin as Guinivere turned her head to look at me.

I blinked. Oops. "Uh, nothing, my love." I replied.

I recalled last night. Me and Merlin had walked back together, talking all the while.

"You know, Arthur... We could run away. You don't have to face this battle."

I turned my head to give him a sharp look. "What has gotten into you, Merlin? Of course I do." I looked ahead. "Camelot need me." I said firmly.

There was silence for a few moments, then he piped up again.

"Arthur - "

I stopped walking and blocked his path. "Why don't you want me to do this? Hm?"

He looked at me, and down at his boots, and up at me again. "Look, Arthur, there's something I need to tell you." My heart fluttered unnecessarily. Stop, I told it. He took a step closer to me even though we were already standing close, and looked around as if there might be someone listening, which was ridiculous because we were in the middle of the woods. "Something will happen to you if you go into that battle. Something - something bad." he told me, but I was hardly listening. I was too busy noticing how close we were standing, and how lusciously plump his lips were. "Arthur, are you even listen-"

That was it, I couldn't take it anymore. The overwhelming desire took over, and I let it.

I closed the distance between myself and Merlin and placed my lips on his, my hands grasping his hair to pull him into me. The words dissolved from his lips, and they were kissing back at me. I pushed him back into the tree we were standing in front of and he gave a little moan in between kisses. His tongue pressed against my lips and I opened my mouth. Suddenly he grabbed me by the back and swung me around so I was against the tree. We were all lips and hands now - my mind was screaming NO!! somewhere back there but I didn't care. This felt good.

Our bodies were colliding, and he was sliding his hands down my chest. I was wearing a low-cut shirt, and he took advantage of that by moving his lips from my mouth down to the bit of my chest that showed, and started kissing that. I tilted my head back and let out a pleasured sound. He came back up to my mouth and we kissed like it was battle between our lips that needed to be won.

We both seemed to realize what we were doing and he took a step away, his breath coming in short gasps.

We stared at each other for a few seconds, then he dashed off into the bushes. "Merlin - " I called after him, but it was too late.

I rose to my feet ungracefully and brushed myself off, as I felt my cheeks going red. If anyone ever found out about this, the kisses shared between two men, we would surely both be hung. I may be the king, but there is no exceptions.

Gwen rose too, though much more gracefully than I. "What's wrong?" She draped her hands around my neck. I didn't like this. I wished it was Merlin.

She looked at my lips, and then down at my chest. "Arthur - what - " She was looking at a purpleish bruise on my chest. Oh no. Oh no no.

I stepped back. "I have to go."

"Arthur? Arthur!" She followed me as I tried to walk away. "Where are you going? We have a journey ahead of us still, that you have to lead!"

I stopped walking. "Guinivere." I put my hands on her shoulders. "I will be back with plenty of time to spare, don't worry." I released her and walked away.

I had to find Merlin. This was serious. There were so many things. For one - we obviously needed to talk about what had happened in the woods last night. Two, he had said something - "Something will happen to you if you go into that battle. Something bad." How could he possibly know that?

But Merlin was nowhere to be seen.
