I've had a crush on Zed since we were four. Our parents thought that we'd be good friends. After his mom died, Zed never wanted to see me again. His mother adored me. She even said that I reminded her of herself. Zed used to say "you act like my mommy sometimes." He was 6 when she died. She died giving birth to little Zoey. I felt so bad. I also wanted Zed to be my friend again. Now, 9 years later, all we do when we pass each other is look for 2 seconds and then look away.
I sat at the table where Zed was sitting, in the new cafeteria. He smiled awkwardly at me then started eating his apple.
"Addison!" He yelled across the cafe.
She came over and said thanks for rubbing peanut on my umbrella. I laughed quietly with a couple other zombies. Bonzo gave her a flower made out of apple peelings. A little bit later, I followed Zed and Addison out to the zombie outbreak room. I stuck ahead of them and hid behind boxs. They started talking about how they first met. Then they began to sing.
"Someday we could be something extraordinary."
"You and me side by side. Out in the broad daylight."
I teared up realizing zed was never gonna love me back because he had that dumb cheerleader to attend to. They left the room as bell rang.
I curled in a ball there and sang "we're gonna be someda—..." then tears streamed out of my eyes. Zed will never love me, I thought.

I know, I ended on a sad note not a usual happy one but I've been writing this book All day and let me tell ya, I wanted to change up the style.
