Ma'Naima gave a soft knock on Aabid's door, wearing an oversized khimar as she had just prayed her Isha. After a while of standing, "Aabid, are you praying? Come to me when you're done," she called out, beginning to walk down the stairs. He immediately opened the door.
"I'm done. I was in the bathroom," he explained, walking towards her.
"I wanted to talk. That's all. But if you're sleepy, then its well," She gently said, grinning at the same time. He shook his head, following her.
"I'm not,"
They sat at the living-room, randomly discussing. Then she proceeded to bring up the issue about tomorrows travel.
"I know that you are feeling this is all too soon," she began, adjusting her khimar so she would be more comfortable. "and i agree, it is."
He said nothing but sighed and laid on the couch. He closed his eyes, listening to what she was saying.
"But I just need you to be steadfast in your prayers and hope for the best from Allah. Always. Don't you dare expect something bad."
He quietly listened, fighting back his emotions.
"She would be a good companion for you, son. You will make a happy home. And I know you'll be a very good father,"
"Thank you..." he gently mumbled, trying to prevent his emotions from being uncontrollable.
"Aabid, give this thing a chance. Afterall, you have to settle one day. It will all be good, i know this. And as for your sudden departure, I hope you live happily there," she said, her voice cracking up a bit. She fought back her emotions too and tried to sound strong. Aabid turned his back towards her on the sofa as if everything was okay and he was only stretching. But he was actually quietly feeling his pain. "Please don't put up a fight, okay?"
"I really won't. I'll do the right thing, don't worry."
They gradually switched to a different topic to lighten up the atmosphere, then watched a few shows till it got late, then she advised he called it a night.
As he was about to cover up with a duvet, he received a notification and it was no one but Violet. She had sent him a photo of her in a bikini. She also wrote to him that she loved him dearly. He could not help but tell her the situation he was in. After a while of expressing her sadness on a phone call, he lastly assured her,
"I won't let you go. I really won't."
