Lullaby (A Maximoff/Marvel fanfic)

Chapter 1

   I looked at him and gave him a cold stare. it remained silent till he spoke first knowing I wasn't. "You're finally awake." "Yeah I am." I responded plainly. "Look I know you think you're doing something good for this world. But Hydra is doing anything besides that."

"Actually they are. They are clearing this world of people like you." I snarl. They're only trying to get me to talk. They only want to know why I was here. Then I remembered my mission.

I acted like I wasn't buying what he was telling me (which was true) and put my hands in my pockets. "You only lie. Your only trying to trick me and make me turn against an organization that is making the world a safer place. A place without Avengers. All so you can know what they want." I was relieved to feel the flash drive in my pocket. Now all I need to do is get the hell out of here.

"Hydra is doing anything, but making the world a better place. They brainwashed my best friend and made him their puppet. He's been missing for nearly two years because he had broken away from Hydra and is hiding." He exclaimed sounding more defensive. I just froze. Was he telling the truth or trying to trick me? I thought he was lying but his heartbeat told a different story. It was steady.

    "Let me tell you what hydra is really li-" He was cut off by me "Enough! Skip the part where you try to trick me. And tell me why you're down here." Captain looked a bit taken aback by my outburst. "I'm not 'tricking' you I'm trying to help you see what Hydra really is. Just hear me out, please." I eyed him. "5 minutes. Go!"

When I said 'Go!' He started telling me his story. Starting from when he was always beat up in ally ways to when he he underwent the experiments, and was successful, to now. And I was in a loop. I didn't want to believe him, but apart of me already did. I felt an emotion that I never thought I could feel. Remorse. Thinking about it I don't know much about me, including my full name. I only knew my first name. Melody. I also know my age, 14, and birthday, April 12, 2001.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Steve. "I told you all about me. Tell me about you." I started fiddling with my fingers out of... nervousness? I wouldn't admit it to myself, but I feel a sense of trust with him. "There's not much to me." I said looking down at my hands. "Sure there is. You can start by telling me your name." I looked at him.

    I furrowed my brows. "I've never used my real name. I've only ever gone by Lullaby." I answered. He looked into my eyes as if looking for something he couldn't find. I would've lied, but this actually made me think of questions beyond my name. Where was I born? What's my full name? "Can you tell me?" I hesitated before whispering "Melody."

"No last name?" He asked furrowing his brows. "Hydra never told me my full-birth name. Only my first name."

"Alright well, is there anything else you can tell me about you?" "I'm 14.", he looked a bit shocked. "Your 14!?" I chuckled then added, "Yeah." It went quiet after that. The atmosphere started to get awkward til he spoke. Thank god. "Alright Lullaby so far I know your first name, your 14, you have auburn hair, and mix matched eyes. Tell me more." I oddly felt I could tell him all I knew. And I did. "I was raised by Hydra and had a brother and sister." "Had?" After a small pause I looked back up with sadness in my eyes. "They're dead. Hydra didn't tell me how, when, where... I didn't know anything about them and I still don't. All I know is that they were older than me." I answer feeling a few tears roll down my cheeks. Wiping them away I look at the Captain once again.

  "I'm sorry." "Don't be." It went quiet till he left. "bye" I whispered leaving me with my thoughts.

Steve's pov

     I was surprised that she opened up that much. It's progress. Stark and Clint watched from the cameras. I was also on coms with them. Wanda was still asleep. Rhodey and Vision are on a mission. Sam left and continued to track Bucky. I'm assuming Thor is back on Asgard. And we convinced Nat to take today off since she took a strong hit to the head. Tony already filed what we know about her so far. That's when Wanda walked in. "Did you get anything on Lullaby?", Wanda asked with a yawn. "Yes we did. Rogers talked to her and got her to open up more than we expected." Tony announced. Wanda nodded in approval. "What did you find?" She asked. Tony swung his tablet in the air. On the page appeared...
