Feeling my body being able to move I peel my eyes open. Looking around I see a sleeping Wanda in a recliner far out on my left. Sitting up I realize I'm in a room. If I had to guess, I'm in Wanda's room. I'm laying on a full bed with purple comforters and gray pillows. Light gray walls. A small dresser with a small flat screen tv to my right. Next to the dresser was a small light green hamper and a guitar.
A nightstand on either side of the bed with lamps on them. On the left wall was a shelf with pictures, perfumes, and a few books. There's also a desk. And in the corner was the door. Sun shined through the room. Swinging my legs to the edge of the bed I look out the window to see that we're not at the tower, we're at the compound upstate.
After a while her eyes open. "You're awake!" She cheered a little to loudly. We stared for a little while. I would have gotten uncomfortable like last time, but I was doing the same thing. While observing her I locked eyes with her for a good 5 seconds. Then I felt something warm. Not physically but emotionally. I don't know how to describe it. I've never felt this.
"Hello." I say shyly.
"Hello." Wanda says just as shyly. Now it just left an awkward silence. I don't know what to say and neither does she. Breaking the tension, Wanda walks over to a chair in the corner and picks up a backpack. My backpack. Handing it to me she explains "This was on you when Steve carried you to the quinjet." Grasping it I voice a thank you."How long have I been asleep?" I ask not wanting her to ask what's inside. I'm not ready for that yet.
"We got back when the sun started to set. You were asleep a few hours before that." She answered. The room returned to awkward silence. Then I remembered it's been days since I last showered.
"Can I shower?"
"Uh, yes. I'll find a change of clothes and towels are in the bathroom." Wanda responds standing.Being left in the room I threw off the covers and went in the bathroom. I have never seen anything so grand. It has a lot of space. It's fancy and clean. Everything at Hydra wasn't. It also smells nice. Looking at the shower I sigh. I have no clue on how to work this. After fiddling with it for a few minutes I finally figured out how to work it. So I step into the shower and let the hot water soak my locks and body. Washing everything, I was able to get rid of the awful smell that covered me. My original scent, vanilla, had taken it's place. Odd I know, but I naturally smell like that.
Getting out I dry off. Opening the door I scan the room to find it's empty. On the bed was an outfit laid out. Skinny jeans. Black converse. A black tank top. And a 'Converse. All Star.' Sweatshirt. (Pic). I smiled at the outfit. With Hydra, I wasn't given clothes like these unless I went on a mission. I would have to blend in to look like a normal 14 year old.
I would regularly wear thin clothing. And on rare occasions they would give me an extra blanket. You can imagine that I was cold all the time. Nope. I just got used to it.
Shivering at the memories I dry off and get dressed. Looking in the mirror I brush out my locks. My hair looks better now that I took a shower. Or maybe it's because I'm seeing myself in a different way. I don't ever want to go back to being Hydra's Lullaby. Or Lullaby in any way, not for a while. In this new life I want to find myself as Melody Maximoff.
Turning my body to the side I admire how long my hair is. Brown mixed with red. Stops at my shoulder blades. Naturally wavy.
Knock. Knock.
Opening the door I am met with the warm face of Wanda. Looking down I see her holding a tray of food. From the looks of it they were for the both of us. Remembering that this isn't my room I step aside and let her in. Setting down the food she brings a sandwich to me while she also takes one. Seating myself on her bed she uses her powers to pull up a chair across from me. After finishing my sandwich I look at Wanda. I didn't feel uneasy with her. I felt more safe. More secure.
