Ayano stared at her mother almost in disbelief. She wasn't expecting her to visit so early in the year.
"You must be a bit confused. How long has it been? Weeks? Months? It hasn't been a year has it?", Ayano's mom said.
Ayano shook her head and looked at the ground. She was being over exaggerated. She shouldn't make a big deal about this, it's her mother, of course she'd want to visit her.
"Where's Dad?"
"Oh, your dad? He didn't want to come."
Ayano nodded her head understandingly. Her dad never really accepted her as his own. He always seemed so distant. Maybe it was because she wasn't the perfect daughter he always wanted.
"How's school?", her mother asked all of a sudden as she took a seat on the sofa.
"School? Its fine.", Ayano replied. "Would you like me to make you some tea?"
Her mother nodded and Ayano left to the kitchen.
"Are there any cute boys you've seen?"
Ayano opened the cabinet making it seem as if she couldn't hear her. 'It would be best if she just didn't say anything'.
When Ayano was done, she headed back to the room and placed the cup of tea on the table.
"Thank you.", she said and took a sip, "Now tell me, is there anyone you're interested in?"
"No one in particular." Ayano said with a calm tone, "How about I bake you something?"
"First of all, don't try and run away from my questions. Second of all, when did you learn how to bake?"
Ayano's POV.
Why is she so persistent?! I know she's my mom and all, but I really don't want her to find out about all the stuff I've been doing."I really am not interested in anyone." I told her, "And I participated in a cooking club for a few days."
"I see.", Mother said crossing her arms. "I'm not satisfied. Tell me more about what's happened while your dad and I haven't been here."
She's not going to give up is she?
I sigh in defeat and sit on one of the couches, "I'm currently in the martial arts club. And I've met a few new people, but they're not really important. I've also been considering to go shopping for food this week."
My mom shook her head in disappointment, "You should know better than to hide things from you're mother. I can easily tell that you've someone in your mind."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said looking away.
There are plenty of reasons why I wouldn't want my mom to know I have a crush.
She might start going through my stuff and find my senpai shrine. And I remember that as a little kid, she would always talk to me about love.
"Someday you'll meet someone you'll treasure."
"Treasures aren't for sharing."
"Treasures are meant to be kept only for yourself."
She always talked weirdly. And if I remember correctly, she told me stuff about how she met my dad.
"I met him in my first year of highschool."
