"Dani, are you ready?" Dak shouted when he walked in Danielle's apartment. He noticed the light on in the bathroom, so that's where he went. "Didn't you h— you look good."
Danielle was dressed in a pair of medium wash jeans that were cuffed at the ankle, a white shirt with a navy blue cardigan, and all white adidas. She knew it was simple, but Dak thought she looked good in anything she wore.
"Thank you, Dakota," she smiled, calling him by his middle name.
While she picked at a few of her curls, Dak picked up her phone and opened Snapchat.
"She's finally letting me take her on a date, y'all," he said as he recorded her in the mirror, catching her smile on the video. He captioned it The Dak & Dani Show is back then put her phone back. "Are you done yet?"
She playfully glared at him while washing her hands. "Yes, Dakota." She got her phone then got her purse out of her room. "Alright, let's go."
"I still can't believe we finally did that," Danielle said as she & Dak walked into their favorite bakery. "This is officially the best date I've been on."
For their date, Dak arranged for them to go skydiving. It was something they always talked about since they were in high school, but they never got the chance until now. After skydiving, the two went to dinner; then they ended up at the bakery because they weren't ready for their night to end.
"This could've happened a long time ago if you would've just given me a chance," he joked. "But I'm glad you had fun."
He put his arm around her shoulders and she put her arm around him as they ordered their desserts. They were so busy laughing and joking around, they were completely unaware of the elderly couple watching them in awe. With her husband behind her, the woman decided to approach Dak & Danielle.
"You two are such a lovely couple," she said with a small smile.
"Son, whatever you're doing to put that smile on her face, keep it up," her husband said to Dak.
Before Dak or Danielle could tell them they weren't a couple, they left the bakery.
"That was weird," Danielle said as she took the box of baked goods from the woman behind the counter. "What made them think we're together?"
"We look good together," Dak answered with a shrug, causing Danielle to shake her head.
"That, and y'all act like a couple," the bakery owner, Ramona, added.
"We do not act like a couple," Danielle denied.
Ramona pursed her lips before a laugh escaped. "Mmkay. You keep tellin' yourself that, sis."
She shook her head, disregarding everything Ramona said. They all said their goodbyes, and Dak took Danielle home. When they got to her apartment building, there were a few police cars, a fire truck & an ambulance parked in front of the entrance.
