The Letter

Taking a moment to relax and sip her tea, Hermione Malfoy nee. Granger sighed and enjoyed her first moment of relaxation that she'd had that day. With a sweet little toddler, who had seemingly endless energy, she never seemed to have a moment to herself, but after what seemed an eternity she'd finally gone to sleep.

Hermione wakened from her thoughts as she heard the front door open and close. A voice called out,
" I'm home darling!" and her husband, Draco Malfoy, a tall and handsome figure, came through to the living room and kissed her on the forehead.

Hermione thought back to all the happy moments they'd had together and she wouldn't change it for the world. If you'd told her at the age of eleven that she would marry Draco Malfoy right out of school, have her first child at the age of nineteen and be sitting here in a beautiful house, a successful elves rights campaigner, married to a successful businessman, she would have said,
"Don't be ridiculous!"

Draco's voice made her come back to earth for the second time that day saying,
"This came in the post for you today darling."
"Hmmm, how strange, we hardly ever get post, I wonder what it is." Then she added,
"and they've got my name wrong, they obviously don't know I'm married."

She carefully slit open the envelope and inside there was a letter, written on a tacky, flowery, piece of paper, it read:

Dear Hermione,

You are invited to attend the reunion of the Granger's on the 15th of June at the Griffin Hotel. Please arrive at 9am and we should be finished by the 17th of June at about 10.30am.

On the 16th we will have a day of family activities which are yet to be confirmed.

Please bring along any partner/ date that you have,

See you soon,

Stephanie Granger

P.S. You can't avoid us for much longer.

Hermione threw the letter down in disgust, just as she was beginning to forget her traumatic childhood reunions, this one letter had to bring them all back to her.

Draco looked concerningly at her quite aware that something in this letter was troubling her. She handed the letter to him to read and he finally understood. He knew how horrible some of Hermione's family had been to her when she was little, her cousins calling her, 'beaver' and 'bookworm', and they never let her come out of her shell.

As if sensing distress there came a cry from up above and Hermione sighed, saying, 'Your turn, you go and get her.'

Draco went and fetched a beautiful little girl and brought her downstairs. She reached straight for her mummy and held on tight.

Adria was quite frankly one of the best things that happened to Hermione. When she'd found out she was pregnant, she was surprised to say the least, but not unhappy. For most people nineteen was maybe a bit young to be a parent. But Hermione had matured drastically through the war and so had Draco. Besides Hermione was already in a stable and loving marriage, which most people wouldn't even dream of being in until at least twenty five. Throughout the war Hermione had found herself yearning love and she had found that in Draco and then in little Adi, until you become a parent, it's hard to know how you can love someone who you've just met. They were such a perfect little family and so closely knit that nothing could break them apart.

Hermione suddenly spoke.
"I think we should go," she said, "it would be nice to show them how much I've changed."
"Whatever you want to do darling, but I'm afraid I won't be able to come with you from the start. I have a business meeting which lasts until the night of the 15th, but I can come and join you later in the day."
Hermione looked sad for a minute then brightened, thinking that it would be fun to suprise her cousins with her husband.

Adi meanwhile had fallen asleep again and Hermione returned her to bed, wondering what the reunion would bring.
