Patricks POV:
7:54 am
Los Angeles California
The case was cold to the touch as I set it down on the table. God only knows whats inside, heaven, hell, anything really. I swiped my fingers across the case, dust laid on top in a thick sheet and seeped its way into my lungs making me cough and wheeze. I sat there for a while wondering how this all started. Why would anyone want to silence the music, I mean I can understand some music like the Teletubbies intro but everything else is fine. My thoughts were interrupted as the rest of the gang walked in, so I swirled my chair around to face them. Joe was holding a rustic looking paper with numbers scribbled in black ink blotches.
¨We figured out the code¨ he said sternly, his eyes reading both with thrill and dread. Everyone stood still, all aware of what had to be done, but not aware of the outcome.
I sighed and took the paper from his shaky hands giving them all a reassuring look.
¨Whatever is in there is probably just a weapon,¨ I stated and looked at my fingers as they circled the rough paper, trying to control my breathing at the moment. Pete walked over and sat on his heels in front of me, gazing into my worrisome eyes,
¨Hey, its gonna be ok¨ He whispered calmy while tracing his thumb across my jawline.
My lip trembled but I gave a weary smile and stood up taking his hand and gathering around the suitcase, Andy and Joe joining us. I gripped the piece of paper in my left hand and unlocked the case with the other. A loud click reign through the small brick room and signaled that the numbers were indeed correct, sending a wave of adrenaline through my veins. I set my fingers on both locks and our breathing became silent as I lifted the lid. I fastened my eyes closed but was astonished when a plethora of light was beaming through. Slowly I stepped back into Pete and opened my eyes cautiously. I let out a large ragged chuckle of relief as I saw what was in the box overjoyed that we weren't going to die today. Peering over at the gang, their fear injected faces were now replaced with joy and comfort, all smiling from ear to ear. Pete whistled and sat his hands on top of his head,
¨wow,¨ he stated,
¨yeah¨ joe added
Andy stood there with a hard look upon his face, knowing what caution standards we were going to have to take in order to protect the case. He signaled that we were going to have to use plan 3 when he looked at Pete and I. We nodded and shut the suitcase, locking it back into place as Pete latched the handcuffs onto my wrist and the case. I handed Joe the paper and watched him pull out a lighter and burn it, the paper seeming to have a life of its own as it shriveled up and formed into dust on the floor. I grimaced at the sight of how quickly something can be demolished. Taking off my hat and running my hands through my hair, I stare at the large metal door in front of us. The journey hasn't even started, and I already feel as if its the end.
As soon as we walk out those doors, our lives will be on the line. We will be hunted, we will be tortured, but we will not be silenced. In order to stop the spread of stillness, to protect our sanity, to protect ourselves, we will have to fight against whoever the silencer is.
And that starts now.
