1:47pm
We had been cruising around the city for over 20 minutes. We were lost but Jason pretended like he wasnt. We were driving down a road, passing by a cemetary, it gave me shivers. Graves creeped me out. It went by and i looked forward. We were going down an empty road, back into the lonely desert.
M:" Do you know where you're going?"
Jason said nothing.
M:" Is this the right way?"
He didn't answer.
M:"You're lost."
No reply.
I looked out my window and i saw an old shed. Memories flew back of the warehouse. The car started to shake as Jason turned the car off road. We were heading towards it. Why?
M:" Jason what are you doing?" I was getting worried.
It was in a small ditch. The car rattled over bumps and stones it drove over and Jason and I swayed with it. He swerved the car and parked behind the shed. He quickly unbuckled his belt and slammed the door open, rushing out. I was about to do the same, unbuckled my belt but before i could open the door, Jason had already done it and grasped my arm, pulling me out onto my feet.
M:" Hey?! What are you doing?"
We headed towards the shed. His fingers dug down deep into my arm. There was a back door and Jason kicked it open. I was so confused, It felt like he was familiar with this place. It was dark, The lights were on low, I felt like i was in Hollister. There were 4 chairs around a couple of cardboard boxes. Playing cards, 2 pocket knives and empty beer bottles laying on top of them. This was someone's shed. Someone Jason knew.
M:" Ow Jason what are you doing?!"
His grasp tightened. I screamed, a loud bang of the front door hitting the wall made me jump. I snapped my neck to look. A tall man stood in the shadows. His hand clenched. An old rag dangled between his fingers. I tried to turn and hide behind Jason but he squeezed my arm tight, i couldn't move. What was he doing? Footsteps began. edging nearer.
?:" We meet again." How cliché.
?:" Recognise me... Monica?"
How did he know my name? His voice was familiar.
?:" We have some unfinished business."
M:"Jason?!"
I turned to him, whispering his name. His face was stern. He just looked at the floor, not making eye contact. I struggled to get out of his grip but he just held on tighter.
?:"Doesn't she know Jason?"
M:" Who are you?!" I asked, shaking.
?:" You know who I am Monica. Just look closer."
I squinted my eyes, too scared to step forward. His chuckle was dark and sinister. He stepped out into the light, closer.
RALPH.
I was petrified. My eyes started to water and I couldn't use Jason for protection. He betrayed me. Who was he?
He hurried over to me, smothering my face with the cloth in his hand. I shrieked and stumbled, trying to stay on my feet. Ralph grabbed the back of my head so i couldn't fight the cloth away. I started to get woozy. My eyelids were dropping and everything went blurry. I was gone.
Scratches, splinters, up and down my legs. Holes in my jeans. My elbows grazed and bruised. My hands were tied behind me. A rag around my mouth. My feet strapped up tight. I had been thrown into a corner. My back up against the wall.
My eyes fluttered open, A pain pounded in my head. I woke up to Ralph and Jason slouched in chairs, facing each other, guns on their laps. I tried to move but i couldn't and a groan slipped through my lips. Jason whipped his head round to look at me, as Ralph was smiling, looking down at his gun. My face was covered in dirt, sweat and tears, and it itched. I was fustrated and uncomfortable and betrayed. I started to cry, hard. My voice echoed and tears soked into the rag around my mouth.
R:" Jason, shut your bitch up."
Ralph stood up and nudged Jason's shoulder. He looked at me one more time, smug and disgusting, before walking out the door. Leaving just me and Jason. He sat there for a while, fiddling with the gun. I couldn't believe he did this to me. I fell for him. I trusted him. I saved him.
He lied to me.
He finally got up and his footsteps haunted me, making his way to me, and he kneeled infront of me. Gun in hand.
J:" Ralphs not dead!" He smirked at me, raising his eyebrows in amusement.
He made me feel sick. He reached out his hand and pulled the rag out of my mouth.
M:" WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" My words scratched my throat. I was in so much pain.
J:" C'mon! Were you seriously so fucked up in the head that you thought you could trust me?! Me. Jason McCann?!"
M:"I broke you out of jail!"
J:" Yeah thanks for that!"
M:"You... You... took my..."
J:" Virginity?! Oh man! Like i said, I'm a teenage boy!" He winked at me.
I felt sick. My stomach churned.
M:" You are disgusting Jason. Everything you said was a lie!"
J:" Not everything! I was telling the truth about you being different"
M:" What?!"
J:" You've got balls! You can do nearly what me and Ralph do, which is different to the other hostages in the past!"
M:" Did you make them do what I did?"
J:" Nah. We killed them."
M:" Please Jason don't?!"
J:" Don't what? Kill you? Don't worry! You've got a few days!"
M:" Was this your plan all along?"
J:" Not exactly! Basically, after Ralph payed a visit, we talked about some business. Ralph and I planned to keep you hostage, to dangle you down in front of the police as bait. We are going to make you do stuff for us, keep the police on their toes."
M:" I can't believe you! I saved you! I ran away from home! Killed a police officer! Left a woman in a trunk at the side of the high way! Is Alex in on this?"
J:" Of course! Us brothers stick together."
I couldn't breath. I felt sick. Everything was a lie. I knew nothing. This was it. The end.
