I am so very very sorry that you had to wait so long for this chapter! I had the entire thing written out in my Writer's Notebook, but I lost it before I could type up the chapter! Again, I'm very sorry! From now on, I'll try to be more frequent.

We pushed past startled and angry patients as we hurtled down the hallway. Mella was inside of the room, already have hard contractions. The doctor began to scrub up when I grabbed his arm. I looked deep into his watery brown eyes. He tried to shake me off, but I held him there.
"You have to save Mella." He grimaced at me.
"I can't when you're clinging on to my arm." I quickly released him and watched as he retreated into the room.
Since I wasn't allowed inside, I sat on a bench in the hallway. Every time Mella screamed, I cringed. Was she okay? Is she going to make it. My heart fluttered and my eyes burned. The worse part of waiting was not knowing. Every once in a while, the noise would just die down altogether, before kicking up again. The pauses became more frequent and longer every time they came. During them, the only thing I could hear was the blood rushing in my head. Eventually, the silence just... stayed.
My heart plummeted. What was going on? What happened? Dr.Coleman slowly pushed the door open and looked at me solemnly. I would have asked him if Mella was alright, had fear not stitched my lips shut. He ushered me in. Tim held a small bundle in his arms, tears streaking his face. Mella was on the cot, very still and very pale. I rushed to her side and gripped her clammy hand. Tears of my own slipped down my cheek.
"Mella? Mella, please... please wake up. Oh, Mella! Mella..."
I wept for her as pain unwillingly blossomed in my heart. I stood from my kneeling position and leaned over to kiss her forehead in a final farewell. As I looked down at her peaceful face, her eyes opened and she smiled at me, that beautiful, motherly smile.
"Mella?!"
"I was only napping, my dear." She squeezed my hand gently and whispered, "Dr.Coleman told me what you did. Thank you." She smiled again.
Mella reached out and took her baby from Tim, who I now knew was crying from happiness rather than sorrow. The baby was plump in a healthy way. She had her mother's golden ringlets and shimmering aquamarine eyes. A warm glow started over my chest, patching up the flowering pain I had felt, and reflecting in the eyes of those around me. I gripped my necklace and thanked the stars for Mella's safety.
"Diane,"
"Yes?"
"What is your middle name?"
"Evangeline, why do you ask?" She stared lovingly at her child.
"Evangeline... what a beautiful name for two beautiful girls."
I choked down tears. Mella naming her child after me was undoubtedly the biggest honor ever bestowed upon me. She handed me her precious bundle, her Evangeline, whom I carefully cradled in my arms. She stared at me through soulful eyes and reached up to grip my glowing necklace. I looked away, unwilling to see what the future held for her. When she finally let go, I felt a shudder of relief. The child already felt like my baby sister, and I didn't want to know what she would have to go through.
As a happy feeling stirred in my chest that night as I slipped into bed, I made a vow with myself. I would work my hardest as the Seer's apprentice and make this town a better place. I would make it safe from tragedies and heartache. I gave a sleepy smile as I drifted into sleep. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.
