THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

Chapter 4

Naeun's POV

I was singing along to my favorite song when suddenly i got a message from my mom.

N's mom : Honey, can you please tell Taemin already? we only have 2 days left.

When i read the message, at first i didn't want to reply but i knew if i didn't reply, she'll get angry so i decided to just reply.

N : Umma, i told you i don't want to yet. I'm not ready to leave him.

After a while, i received a message from my mom.

N's mom : Honey, i know this is hard for you. this is hard for us too if you're not going to tell Taemin yet.

i inhaled and exhaled before i could reply to my mom.

N : Fine. okay. I will tell him today. * i lied*
N's mom : okay good. keep me updated once you've told him. okay? i love you honey
N : okay. i love you too mom!

After me and my mom talked, i put my phone down and started to inhale and exhale. I thought to myself " how am i going to do this? can i really leave Taemin oppa just like this?" After having those thoughts i called Key oppa because i was going to tell him about everything.

K : hello?
N : Key oppa?
K : ahh yes, Naeun?
N : uhm.. I'm going to tell you something but please promise me, you won't tell anyone especially Taemin oppa, okay?
K : *gets worried* you're having a baby? omo omo con--
N : what? no! I'm not.. this is different
K : *calms down* oh okay okay well sure go tell me
N : *sighs* I'm leaving Korea in 2 days
K : *surprised* what???!?!!!! why?????
N : my parents want me to focus on my studies first. they want me to stop being an idol for a year.
K : what??? that's ridiculous! do your members know?
N : no they don't, only you know so please don't tell anyone especially Taemin oppa. I don't want him to get hurt.
K : *calms Naeun down* don't worry Naeun, your secret is safe with me. I won't tell anyone, promise.
N : okay. thank you Key oppa
K : sure thing Naeun! uhhm i have to go now Naeun, we still have rehearsals for our concert. see yah!
N : oh okay see you Key oppa! Fighting!

After my call with Key oppa, I thought to myself "Will Key oppa really keep this from him? did i do this right? was telling Key oppa the right thing to do? i hope it was."

Taemin's POV

We were rehearsing for our concert but Key hyung was nowhere to be found.

T : Jonghyun hyung, where's Key hyung? why isn't he with us right now?
J : oh someone called him. he had to answer the call
T : who called him?
J : i don't know. he didn't say

After a few minutes, i saw Key hyung so i ran to him.

T : Key hyung, where did you go? who called you? Jonghyun hyung told me someone called you.
K : ahh yes! someone did call me
T : who called?
K : oh it was a friend of mine, he just wanted to wish us the best of luck for our concert
T : oh okay well, please tell him thank you
K : okay! i will!

S's (SHINee) manager : boys! where are you all? the rehearsals start in five!

Ugh I'm so tired i just want to take a nap. ugh!!!

O : Taeminnie, are you alright?
T : no hyung. I'm not! I'm so tired. i just want to take some more rest
O : but our manager hyung said we start rehearsals in five minutes
T : i know but i can't take it anymore
O : okay wait hold on, i will talk to our manager hyung.

Onew hyung left me to talk to our manager hyung.

O : Hyung!
S's manager : Yah! where's everyone? we have to start rehearsing soon
O : hyung, can Taemin sit this one out? he really looks so tired.
S's manager : ugh okay fine! but you have to do Taemin's parts on this one (Black hole is the song they're rehearsing)
O : okay okay i will but wait hold on, i will let Taemin know.

After a few minutes, i saw Onew hyung running to me.
O : Taeminnie, manager hyung let you rest. i will be singing your parts for Black hole.
T : omo omo thank you Onew hyung!
O : no need to thank me. okay i got to run. just rest okay?
T : okay hyung! fighting!

After Onew hyung left, i decided to call Naeun and see how she was doing.

After trying so many times to call her, i  thought to myself "what's happening? why won't Naeun answer her phone?" i just decided to message her. hopefully she would reply later.

Naeun's POV

I was sitting on my bed crying while holding my phone. I had so many missed calls from Taemin oppa and so many unread messages from him too. I opened KKT to read the messages and when i opened them, i read:
T : Naeun, how are you? I'm here rehearsing for our concert. did you eat? do you want something to eat, i can buy when I'm done here.
T : Naeun? how are you? what happened?
T : Naeun? are you okay there? what happened?
T : Naeun?
T : Naeun?
T : Naeun?
T : Naeun?
T : Naeun?

I immediately closed KKT and started crying more. I was crying so much that when Chorong unnie checked on me, she saw i was still crying.

C : Naeun? what happened? did you and Taemin fight?
N : *still crying* no unnie. we didn't fight.
C : then what happened? why are you like this?
N : *still crying* I can't
C : *looking so worried* you can't what? hold up, I'm going to call Taemin.
N : *wipes her tears* No, please I don't want Taemin oppa worrying too much about me.
C : Naeun, please let me tell him. He has to know. I can't let you be like this forever. He will help, i promise.
N : *calms down* okay unnie

Chorong unnie left my room and called Taemin oppa.

T : hello?
C : Taemin? are you busy?
T : Oh Noona? uhm, I'm just resting here. why what's going on?
C : *sighs* it's Naeun. I went to her room and saw her crying but she won't tell me what's going on.
T : *worried* what? wait okay okay, I'll be on my way just wait a bit.
C : okay thank you Taemin.
