Stupid alarm clock.
I hit it and dragged myself out of bed. I took a quick shower then got dressed.
I found my shoes and threw them on. I grabbed my bag and guitar case. I slid down the bannister and walked quickly into the kitchen. I placed my bag on my shoulder and grabbed an apple.
"Hey sweetie." My mom greeted.
"Hey your back." I gave a smile, "sorry I gotta run. Catch ya later."
"Love you!" She yelled as I ran out the front door and to my car.
Climbing in, I started the engine and drove off.
Today was like any other day. Same routine.
Once I got to school, everyone was talking about the concert happening this weekend at the El Ray theatre. I passed by Brittany and her plastic posse.
"Hey Rebecca." She waved.
I gave her a weird look but kept walking. She probably just wants something.
"Rebecca, wait up!" She called. I didn't stop, but she caught me anyway.
"You know what would be totally awesome?" She squealed so loud I could have sworn my eardrums burst.
"Why are you being so nice all the sudden?" I questioned.
"Is it not allowed for me to talk to a friend?" She questioned back.
"I wouldn't quite say we're friends." I retorted.
"Ouch. Well then, lets get to know each other more. Hang out with me and a couple of buddies." She smiled.
"And where would we be going?" I questioned further, finally realizing where she was going with this.
"Hmm..." She pretended to think for a second. "I got it! The concert this weekend! Maybe you, being a worker there, could get us in for less." She smiled.
"Oh! That's a great idea!" I smirked. "Except they don't let in jerks like you." And with that I turned and walked to my class.
The rest of school went by pretty quickly. After school I drove to Emily's.
Her parents already know me so well and they know we do band practice right after school, so I just walk in.
"Hey!" I shout. "It's Becca."
There was a large crash in the back room. Her dad soon emerged from the room and hugged me.
"Hey Rebecca. They're in the garage." He smiled, then disappeared back in the room.
I went left to the kitchen and to the door that lead to the garage.
"Hey guys." I said closing the door behind me.
"Hey Becca." Sam smiled.
"Let's work on Teenage Memories. I gotta get that one part right." Mads suggested.
"Ok." Everyone agreed.
Emily put in her headphones. She always listens to a metronome.
Mads, Sam and I all plugged in our guitars to an amplifier. Mads plugged in the microphone in.
We played the song and Madison hit the part she was worried about perfectly.
After playing the song a few more times and some other songs, it was time for me to go.
I drove to the theatre and parked. Today I had to mop the stage.
I got my uniform on and said hi to Jerry. I went up on stage and started mopping.
That's when I saw the most beautiful electric guitar ever.
I put the mop back in the bucket and walked over to it. I plucked a quick string. I bit my lip and looked out into the audience.
No one is here. It wouldn't hurt to just play a few cords.
I picked it up and draped the strap over my shoulder. I strummed the notes to my new song.
The microphone was there too.
Aw what the heck.
I smiled and started singing along.
I soon finished and put the guitar back. I looked around once more and got back to work.
I started heading up the isle of the theatre. I had finished cleaning the stage.
As I passed the row at the end someone started clapping. I looked to my right and there was a boy about my age with crazy skunk-like hair.
"That was amazing." He smiled, holding out his hand. "I'm Michael."
