We got back to the streak house after about an hour or a half. Everyone was back to a calm state. I had my hair down with my hair covering my face, looking just like a kid who was being scolded. Nobody noticed my return, nor Trevor's either. They were getting ready for the run, which signaled that it was close to the end of the night. Thank the goddess. I stood next to my parents, my head was hanging slightly. We were about to shift, when a smell came to my nose.
"Wait!" I shouted, putting my hands up in the air. "...Do you guys smell that?" They all raised their heads to sniff the air. Growls came from the forest in front of us and there emerged rogues of all types of animals. Everyone shifted to their animal forms, roaring to the intruders. I glanced at the other people who had yet to transform. "What the hell are you guys waiting for? An invitation?"
I transformed into my tiger that loomed over all the creatures, including my parents. I let out a roar, getting attention from some rogues, then charged. I let Azalea take over as she ripped some of the rogues apart. That's when I felt a link break. I growled at the pain and searched for the fallen soldier. I froze, seeing my father's corpse with a rogue releasing his neck from the it's jaws. A saddened howl of my dad's mate echoed above the night. I was angry. More angry than I ever been. I heard the scariest tiger's roar follow that howl. Then I realized it was me who roared. All the fearful eyes turned to me. I didn't care. That rogue was going to pay. Azalea agreed one hundred percent.Lily was angry and dangerous. I could feel it radiating off her. I also saw, in the corner of my eye, that the Streak house's lights were flickering uncontrollably. Her eyes, that watched her father's murderer, had turned bright gold. So bright, that I couldn't look at them too long. She took a crouched-step forward and the rock looked like lightening streaked through it, coming from her paws. Her fur glows brighter than a thousand stars (not literally). She was beautiful.
I stepped forward, to comfort her, but she had other plans. In lightening speed, she had the murderer rogue underneath her claws. She bared her teeth to his neck. But, as quickly as she had him pinned to the floor, she snapped his neck. She raised her head, meeting every rogue eyes as a challenge to them. They all submitted under the thunderess gaze. Even my tiger, Fern, wanted to submit. I could see the other royals and Alphas struggle to stay standing.
The power in her soon dimmed and she staggered forward, barely being able to stand on her own. I was by her side in a heartbeat, letting her lean on me while the others dealt with rogues, leaving some to be questioned.I woke up, wondering when I had fallen asleep in this comfortable bed. Then it all hit me again. The death of my father. The power running through me with a charge of energy. Tears streaked down my cheeks like rain from the sky as I stared at the ceiling. The door to the room creaked open and in came Trevor. I shut my eyes, turning my head to the opposite side to hide my tear-stained face.
"You know, the fates hate me." I said with a humorless chuckle. "Abused for about eight to ten years. Gave away by the same woman. Rejected by my mate, which I saw coming. And, now, I have lost my dad." I shook my head in disbelief.
"You'll see that the pain you went through just makes you stronger." A comfortable silence fills the room, until he breaks it. "We need to speak with the alphas and royals at breakfast in thirty minutes. Being the new ruler of the Tiger Kingdom, it's vital that you attend." I simply nod, getting out bed. He placed my bag of things on the bed I was sleeping on and left. I grabbed a new batch of clothes and a towel, then entered the shower. I sighed when I had to get out of it and place on my clothes. I wore a white crop top, which showed most of the scars from Mother, and jeans. I brushed through and braided my wet hair.
When I walked into breakfast, with Trevor behind me, all commotion was silenced and all eyes were on me. I walked with my head held high and sat where my father would have. I wonder where his mate went. I feel bad for her. "Has anyone questioned the captured rogues?" I asked to no one in particular. My voice was monotone and authoritative. I took a look at everyone around the table.
Someone cleared their throat and I
turned to the ruler of the bear kingdom. "Not yet, miss. No one had time to last night or this morning. Are you sure it's wise to take your father's place?" I narrowed my eyes at the man, but before I can snap at him, Trevor butted in.
"Didn't any of you see -feel- the power radiating from her?! Who else would be powerful enough to take the throne?!" I started tapping my fingers along the table, watching the bear-man and ignoring the food being placed in front of me.
The bear-man met my gaze, making it feel like a challenge. "Don't do this now. I did nothing wrong to you, yet," I said, not adverting my eyes. He moved his eyes to the other rulers, giving me the win. I looked to my food, which was eggs with sausage and hash browns. They don't think I'll do it. They don't think I can rule my kingdom. That sounds like a challenge to me.
