“Why do we have to go by ship?” Keri asked hanging her weight on the rails of the ship as men loaded crates of supplies and medicine onboard. “Can’t we just Fly there?” Her father looked at her.
“The distance is too far Keri. There are no islands between here and there, that’s why no one has ever found this new region before now.” Keri turned and looked over all the people on deck. They were scientists and doctors, specialists and surveyors, and above all Pokémon experts like her father. But very few kids were insight. The children of these explorers were all with the other parent, a relative, or such. Keri was one of five children sailing aboard the Sun Wave. Three girls and two boys; Keri never felt more alone. The others were all older than her, the eldest being Derrick, whom was seventeen and helping with his father’s research. The closest to her age was Samuel, thirteen, yet the age difference was still a wide gasp of six years for she was only seven.
“I wouldn’t make you come along, but we have no blood relatives that can take you in.” Keri pouted and then hugged her father’s long gangly leg.
“I wouldn’t want to stay.”
“I know Keri, I know.”
She looked up at him with wide blue eyes. “Daddy? Will get to see new Pokémon?” Her father rusted her hair.
“Most likely,” He smiled. His daughter loved Pokémon more than anything, save for her father. She grinned wildly.
“Are we going to leave dock soon?”
“Yes Keri, very soon.”
