I knocked on Auburn’s front door and she answered before my third knock. In front of me stood my best friend, her short blonde hair, her deep blue eyes, and her pale skin. She was worried I could tell by the look in her eyes. The worry in her eyes, the pain, I’ve seen it before. It was that look that you had when you’ve lost someone you cared about. It hurt me seeing her like this. My heart skipped a beat knowing how much she cared about me. But she was ticked off, which meant I needed to get ready for the lecture she was about to give me.
“Where the HECK where you?!?” I was worried sick! I thought something had happened to you! You know you’re 20 minutes late right? I was about to call the cops, I was going to file a missing person!” She yelled at me.
“I’m 18 Auby. I’m an adult now. Plus if anything were to happen to me, it wouldn’t matter anyways.” It was true. Everyone knew if an 18 year old didn’t return home it wouldn’t be important. The parents would care but the police wouldn’t. You’re an adult now and you can take care of yourself. You won’t be a runaway that had to be looked for, you’ll be an adult out on your own.
“You wouldn’t matter?! God, sometimes I just want to slap you until you pass out. Of course you would matter, you DO matter. You didn’t answer any of my texts! A simple ‘Hey Auburn I’m fine, just running a little late.’ would have been fine with me!! So I could know you were ok!” She exclaimed, making me flinch. I felt bad for making her worry, even though it really wasn’t my fault. It was his.
“I’m sorry Auby. I got…caught up okay-“ She stopped me mid sentence. Oh no here it comes again. “Caught up?! You got caught up?!” she made air quotations. “Caught up in what exactly?” She was the only person that frightened me, she can be feisty when she needed to be. And really sarcastic. Possibly the most sarcastic person in the world.
“It’s a long story, but I think we have time. So can I stay over?” She sighed, I knew she couldn’t stay mad at me for long. “Yeah sure. An tell me everything.”
We walked into her kitchen to get some snacks, it was our tradition for every sleep over. I went upstairs and saw Auburn was already sitting on her bed waiting for me. I walked over to her shelf of DVD’S. Man this girl loved movies, they were basically her life. I grabbed season 2 of Pretty Little Liars and put it in the DVD Player. I grabbed the remote and walked over to the bed and sat next to her. I saw her staring at me out of the corner of my eyes, waiting for me to tell her the whole story. So I did.

“Oh my God!!” The quarterback talked to you?!” Ugh quarterback. I hate football, and it’s stupid jocks.
“Why does it even matter? Can we just get back to finding out what happens to Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily?” I just wanted to spend the rest of my night with my best friend and the evil mastermind, A.
“Seriously though, I can’t believe he actually talked to you! He’s so hot.” Oh Auburn.

We watched 5 episodes until Auburn dozed off. I tucked her into bed and then cleaned everything up. She looked so peaceful and innocent when she was asleep. She’s an amazing girl and I don’t know what I would do without her. As I looked at her all the memories of the first time I met her came rushing back.
