"Is that it?" Katherine asked when Nadia fell silent. "You left? Did you ever see her again?"
"We never spoke again," said Nadia, "But I kept myself updated on her life. She remarried a few years after I killed Sir Stuart. He was a better man, and I believe he and Lillian loved each other. It seems that Lillian lived a long and happy life."
"Oh. Well, I guess that's good. But you didn't get a happy ending."
"Lillian was able to live a peaceful life because of what I did, and I eventually found my mother." Nadia gave her a hint of a smile. "That is good enough for me."
Nadia fell silent again, and Katherine gave up after that. She was touched by the story her daughter had shared, but she thought maybe it was best they pick up bonding time again another night.
