It was noon, at least on earth. The sun was setting and the stars were gradually coming out and in a large grassy field, an alien species called a Starling was passing frantically and talking to herself. Gemma, in her Wishling/Human form, seemed to be in a bit of a predicament.
"Starf, talk about a predicament," Gemma complained. As the sun kept going, the anxiety got worse. She had to go home to her planet, Starland soon but there was something else she needed to do. The Wish Mission was a success (Holly and Edgar are best friends again and Holly's speech won the competition) However, among the other acquaintances and friends she made, there was one special one that she thought really needed her. Especially now.
She even had a strange name like Gemma. Her name was Pangea, and she was very small, reaching only up to Gemma's thigh. She could get away with being this small because Pangea was only a half a year old.
"What do I do, Pangea?"
"Moo."
Pangea was also a cow. A Lowline Angus, and although it wasn't mentioned before, there were a couple hundred adult cows lying down in the field around Gemma minding their own business. Its fur was completely black and its eyes seemed to be only pupils. She didn't understand completely what Gemma was going on about because she wasn't saying familiar words or doing any the right tones and wasn't food. She did, however, seem to come to her own understanding that Gemma was her mother. Delivering, sleeping with, bottle feeding and spending huge amounts of time with a baby will do that to any creature. Gemma thought once she was old enough to eat grass she could just leave and the cow would join the herd, but she didn't. Instead, little Pangea kept following her.
Gemma took out her StarZap, a device used between Starlings to communicate. The sun was now completely down and the stars were slowly becoming visible. She called the only other Starling she knew she should, her older sister.
"Tessa!" Gemma cried the second the small holographic sprite of her sister shined from the Starzaps screen.
"Gemma?" Tessa answered and she was wearing a green housecoat and curlers in her hair, a surefire way to know Tessa was just sleeping.
"Yikes, I didn't mean to wake you up, sis." Gemma gave her a little subtext apology, "It's just I have a predicament!"
"Gemma, shouldn't you be ready for your shooting star? You might miss it." her sister was nagging, as usual. Gemma let out a frustrated noise and snapped, "Tessa I need your help!"
"Don't you shout at me." Tessa snapped back. There was a bit of a stare off. While Tessa glared at Gemma she couldn't help but notice the shining light behind her.
"Gemma!"
"I'm not going to miss my Shooting star! Oh my stars I don't even know why I bothered calling you!" she hung up in a huff and put her StarZap in her pocket. She turned around and saw the shooting star waiting for her, "Nice, I guess it was a good idea to ditch that negativity."
She walked towards the shooting star but heard two sets of footsteps. She turned around and looked around and remembered why she bothered calling Tessa in the first place. Like the cows, although he wasn't mentioned before, there was a BotBot assistant strapped to the shooting star. When it noticed Gemma didn't instantly hop aboard the star, it unstrapped itself and ran toward her.
"Miss Gemma, aren't you coming?" the botbot asked
"B-BotBot.... um..."
For the first time ever, Gemma didn't know what to say and no words were coming out of her. She felt the sudden weight of the cow leaning on her leg, causing her to fall over until the BotBot caught her. She looked down to see Pangea, cuddled into her leg with her eyes half closed, ready to sleep. Gemma smiled and felt something in her heart speak to her.
"Yo. Keep this cow. Whats the worst that could happen?"
"BotBot, I want this to remain confidential. Okay?"
"Of course Miss Gemma."
"Make accommodations for a 50 extra pounds."
