While Gemma was rocketing through space at the speed of mock 2, Vega and Libby sat together on her side of the room on Starland. Vega was helping Libby with her WishWorld basic history, an extra class she took when she heard this semester they were learning about Princesses. Libby had always been under the impression she was a Princess. Not by any real legal standards but by her own. She always saw herself as this beautiful, pink, cutesy girly Starling who was born into a rich family, giving her the financial support she needed to help any needy peasants.
Vega sat on Gemma's (Libby's roommate) bed. Sitting straight to give the illusion she was taller than she actually was. Her hair was a sky blue and cut shorter than most other Starlings. Libby herself had wild pink hair that rolled down her back in a mess of thick and thin curls. Being Starlings, the two girls white skin shimmered gently.
"Some royal families on WishWorld don't wear crowns anymore. usually, it's just one piece of jewellery that symbolises their connection to royal blood." Vega explained while showing a picture of Kate Middleton's wedding ring off her StarZap. Libby's eyes widened at the site of the diamond. Her jaw dropped then curved into a smile, "Oh Starf!" she pulled back her hair to show her ear. Hanging off it was a rather large blue diamond that seemed to change colours anytime you blinked. It looked slightly similar to the diamond on the ring.
"Would this make me a princess?" Libby asked. Vega rolled her eyes with a grin, "No, Libby, that was an engagement ring, that's why I showed it to you." Libby blushed and laughed off her embarrassment. "But y'know..." Vega started to explain slowly to give Libby a chance to perk herself back up.
"Back in the olden times, and in some really dirty places in WishWorld nowadays, a sign of royalty was having one of your ears pierced." Vega struggled to remember where she heard this from but knew Libby would trust her regardless. Libby smiled and couldn't help but let a spark of energy spray from her causing positive energy to fill the room. It flowed from her body in a pink light and she stood up from where she was sitting on the floor and did a ballet spin. Vega chuckled, and since the lesson was over and she loved dancing, she got up to join her.
Besides, Libby's overbearing Starpower does this to Starlings. Libby took Vega by the hands and the two girls spun around laughing. Libby's feet moving in a perfectly smooth rhythm, Vega's moved clumsily and clunked all over the place which caused them to fall. BAM! They landed on the floor, Libby had refused to let go of Vega's hands the whole time causing her to land on top of her. The two girls simply laughed, Libby instantly went in for a hug and squeezed Vega while they both glowed their own colors of joy.
Then Gemma walked in, seeming super awkward. Libby looked up, "Hey Gemma!". Vega looked over too and saw Gemma. She noticed her facial expression seemed really weird. Like she just got caught or something. Vega then looked down and saw the position her and Libby were in and quickly pushed Libby off of her. "H-Hey! Hey Gemma!" Vega quickly got up and fixed herself. Normally Vega isn't embarrassed, but it was more about the fact that Gemma looked so genuinely freaked out.
"I just- I thought classes were right now I didn't think anyone would be in the room," Gemma said awkwardly. Vega then noticed Gemma had an unusually big bag with her, "Gemma you packed a lot."
"Starf, starf, starf, Gemma think of something... say a joke or something, defuse the situation." Gemma spoke, "What's with the interrogation can't a girl just pack extra?! You two should be in class your off class isn't today, I should be the one interrogating you! Why are you on my side of the room anyway?! Why should you care what's in my bag its' none of your business!"
"Oh my stars," Libby whispered while covering her mouth. Vega isn't usually nosey, but she isn't usually the kind of Starling to put up with being yelled at by a first year. Vega narrowed her eyes, an instant intimidation, "Well, first of all, you're usually only meant to bring your StarZap with you, and I know you know this because we were all there to say goodbye to you when you left. So it's completely understandable for me to be confused that you'd suddenly have a large bag with you upon returning."
Vega took a step closer to Gemma. Gemma quickly put the bag behind her and backed up a bit.
"Second, this is my off class, I'm using it to tutor Libby and since I'm a second year I can tutor her in her room as long as I text Lady Stella letting her know she's with me and what we're doing." Vega got closer, and even though Vega wasn't that much taller than Gemma, Gemma could feel that terror of "oh yeah, second and especially third years have all those crazy privileges and could probably get me kicked out of school anytime they wanted within reason" towering over her to compensate. It worked pretty well. She knew smuggling a WishWorld animal, any animal, on Starling Academy would get you expelled.
Vega's squinting eyes glared harder as Vega now had Gemma backed up against the wall, "And third," Vega immediately calmed down, "Libby told me we could be on your side of the room, it had more room, I thought it was okay. I would've had us go to my room if I knew it would've been a problem." Vega turned around and went back to Gemma's side of the room to get her stuff. Her off period was almost over so she wanted to head to Wish Theory as fast as she could.
She walked past Gemma on the way out. "N-No fourth?" Gemma quietly asked.
"Huh? Nah, whatever in that bag is obviously something super private and probably actually none of my business so no." Vega answered her while walking backwards, to still give eye contact but still be moving. With Vega gone, as far as Libby knew it was just her and Gemma were alone in the room.
Normally, Gemma would be chatting up a storm, telling stories and details about her trip. She would've been telling Libby everything that happened from start to finish, even the pointless parts that had no reason to be mentioned like how she kinda tripped up at one point or forgot to change her socks one morning while there. Instead, she was just standing by the door waiting for Libby to leave.
Except it was Libby's off class now so she wasn't actually going anywhere. The two smiled at each other for an uncomfortably long amount of time. Gemma with a forced, toothy grin and Libby with her genuine motherly smile.
"I like how me and Gemma have a connection where we don't need to be talking to have a conversation" Libby happily thought to herself.
"Solar flair! Just go!" Gemma angrily thought to herself.
Finally, there was a sound. Gemma's StarZap chimed a pretty melody and she quickly took it out to see it was a message from Lady Stella telling her to come to her office to give her a little report on how the Wish Mission went. Since it was from Lady Stella, she knew she couldn't deny it. Trusting Libby would be going to her next class soon, Gemma left the bag in the room alone with Libby.
