Chapter 5 - "Mess"
Daniel and I basically skipped all classes today. We got to know each other and found out that he's a really cool guy. He has a family of four, including him, which consists of his mother, father and his little sister Abby. His parents are homophobic, as said by Daniel, and they flipped when Daniel came out as gay. They thought it was a demon messing with him so they took him to church and urged the priest to take the demon out. It was a hilarious. As if it were that easy.
But he also told me that his parents have threatened to kick him out of the house if he continued this uneducated behavior. That sent me chills down the spine. I've always feared of my family not accepting me, and Daniel just gave me reasons to not tell my family about me. Daniel says that even though his parents act like total jerks, he's happy. Because he is himself. His true self. He describes the feeling of coming out as freedom. I just wished I was brave like Daniel was.
"So how are you getting back home Josh?", Daniel asked taking out his home. He went for his contacts and dialed his mother.
"I take the bus. I just have to wait for my siblings." I looked at the school's entrance once again hoping that my brothers would finally come out. Seriously, what is taking them so long?
Daniel nodded and answered his phone. "Hello? Yeah I just got out of school. Mhm. Wait, what?" I turned to him and tried to listen more to what his mother was saying.
"School called me Daniel. They told me you were cutting class with a... transgender?" His mother said clearly mad. But I think she's actually mad about him spending time with someone like me instead of him cutting class. Parents nowadays are unbelievable.
"Um, yeah." Daniel said after a moment. His eyes told me "are you serious?".
"Get home now, we need to talk." And with that, she hang up leaving Daniel confused. Yes, he spent time with me but what's there to talk about? She'll probably tell him that it is a sin, or she'll probably tell him to take me to his church so that the priest can take the demon out.
"Whoa, sexy boy alert." Daniel said and looked at the school's entrance. There was Kendall with a friend on his left, smiling at whatever they were talking about. A smirk was formed in my mouth and I looked at Daniel. "What? He's sexy." He stated and noticed that Kendall was heading towards our direction.
My smirk grew wider, "Hey Kendall." This is the first time I've seen a human to be able to change different colors in a moment. Especially red. The dude was fuming hot red. "Hey Joshie, new friend?" He said looking at Daniel. He looked like an awful mess when he stuttered, "O-oh y-yeah, D-Daniel."
Kendall took his hand out to shook Daniel's, but the messed boy just stared at it. I rolled my eyes and grabbed Daniel's hand and place it on Kendall's. "A pleasure. So Josh, the bus will be over soon. Where's Andrew?"
"Here!" Andrew ran out of the school's entrance and reached us. "Okay now we're all together. And the bus is here right on time." Kendall said and signaled to the bus now parked in front of the school waiting for us to get in. "Are you coming with us Daniel?" Kendall asked gesturing to the bus. "Y-yeah, mom won't be picking me up." And with that, Daniel and the rest of us got into the bus. Kendall sat with Andrew at the very back of the bus while Daniel and I took the first seat we saw which was right besides the door.
"When were you planning on telling me that the sexy guy was Kendall?!", Daniel whisper-yelled and I laughed. Daniel's red cheeks came back again and I awed.
