"You look so funny like that!" she exclaims.
Josephine laughs at me.
I laugh too. "What, in a bikini?!"
Josephine nods her head while laughing. She pulls out her phone and takes a picture of me.
"You've finally got away from those textbooks," Josephine says. "I can't believe it! Finally, you're having fun!"
"I've let go," I agree. "Maybe too much."
"No, this is just the start!"
Josephine shows me the picture she took of me in a bikini and laughs. I chuckle.
"I do look weird, eh?" I ask. "Send it to me, I'm going to post it on Facebook."
"Facebook is like, so old," Josephine says. "Get Instagram, or Snap Chat, or Skype."
"Excuse me!" I exclaim. "My parents have finally let me get social media after all these years! You should be happy!"
"Hey! I am happy!" Josephine shouts.
"Yeah, I don't believe you," I joke.
"Yeah, right," Josephine says sarcastically, while rolling her eyes.
Josephine sends me the picture, so I pull out my phone from my beach-bag so I can post it on Facebook.
"Who should I send it to?" I ask Josephine.
"I dare you to send it to Michael's sister!" Josephine exclaims
I laugh and shake my head. "As if that's ever going to happen."
I post the picture on Facebook, letting all my friends on Facebook see it.
"Come on Miss Indoors," Josephine says. "Post the picture later and how about we go for a swim?"
I put my phone in my beach-bag and am dragged to the edge of the water by Josephine. I dip my foot in the water and shriek.
"It's cold!" I yelp.
"Oh, stop complaining!" Josephine exclaims. "It's only a few days after summer!"
Josephine drags me further and further into the water and eventually, the water is just below our shoulders.
"Jeez, it's cold," I say miserably.
Josephine sighs. "Well, when you come to the beach you have to swim."
"No I don't," I say. "I can do other...um...stuff."
"Like what?"
"Er... building a... sun-baking!" I stammer.
"Good enough," Josephine murmurs.
"And mo-"
"Clair! Watch it!"
And with that, a wave crashes into me and I am somersaulted to the sandy shore. Josephine is riding a wave, looking like a real pro. She reaches the shore and walks over to me.
"Don't blabber while you're in the water!" she says in a 'Mum' voice.
"Yes, Mum," I remark.
My eyes are killing me, and I feel as if I've swallowed half of Bondi Beach's water.
"I need to go and sit down," I say.
"Okay," Josephine says. "I'll be in the water."
I walk to where our belongings are and put a towel down on top of the sand. I lay down and pull out my phone. People have responded to my picture, but as I scroll down the various messages I find one that isn't so friendly. I don't recognise the username and I can't think of who the person may be. I respond, telling the person to get lost, but I sent something graver than just 'get lost' and it may have involved a bit of swearing in it. The response from the anonymous person is immediate, and he threatens to kidnap me because I'm 'hot' in a bikini. I respond to the messenger, telling him to 'get lost' or he'll be in trouble. He responds, threatening that he will assault me in every way possible, whether it is physically, emotionally or more. Just as I am about to type something, Josephine runs over to me.
"Come on Clair! You can't just sit there all day!"
I put my phone back in my beach bag and walk over to Josephine. She is saturated, but has a large smile on her face. Josephine can tell there is something wrong with me.
"You okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, fine," I lie.
Realistically, I am not fine. I have never been sent threatening messages, and I really don't know what to do about the situation.
