Nine
“I’ll refill our drinks,” I say, climbing to my feet.
We all decided not to have any alcohol, seeings as most of us had to work the next day, and settled on soft drinks and apple juice instead. Taking as many cups as I could in my hands, I waddled my way back into the kitchen and started pouring the soft drinks. We’d left the bottles out on the bench, and they’d gotten a little warm since, so I decided to shuffle around in the freezer for some ice cubes. I reached in, trying to make my way around all the frozen meals and ice creams, when I became accustomed to some footsteps behind me.
“Need a hand?” Harry asks. Of course, who else would it be?
“I-“ I turn around and look at him. He’s got his hands behind his back and a small smile on his face. “I was just looking for some ice.”
“Oh,” he says, making his way over to me by the freezer. He leans forward, his arm brushing against mine, and I tell myself that I should get out of his way so he can access the freezer more easily, but my feet are grounded. Harry pulls out a tray of ice, hands it to me and grins. “This what you were looking for?”
I nod, snapping out of my trance, and move away, back over to the counter to where the drinks are. Behind me, I hear the freezer shut and more footsteps, making their way even closer towards me. Curious, I spin around, startled to see Harry right behind me.
I awkwardly place my hands on the bench behind me, gripping on to them nervously as Harry’s only millimetres away from me now. “Harry, I-“
His hand reaches out, resting on my cheek, stopping me from saying any more. Don’t do this... I think. You can’t do this, Jaz... I’m unaware that I’ve pushed myself so far back into the bench that the cupboard door handles are probably leaving marks in my skin, but I can’t seem to take my eyes away from his lips. You’re just going to get your heart broken. Stop.
I’ve never been kissed before, but I’m almost certain from the amount of romantic movies that I’ve watched that he’s going to kiss me. And as much as I want to stop him... I can’t and don’t want to at the same time. His lips inch closer to mine, until I can feel his warm breath tickling my skin. I think my heart practically jumped out of my chest, the butterflies in my stomach going mad, as he was so close our lips were just brushing against each other’s.
And then our lips connected, and it was like a flash of electricity sparked within me- a warm, nice flash. I was worried for a moment that my heart was thumping so loudly that he could hear it, and the minute I felt the kiss deepen, I lost any willpower that I may have had. My grasp on the bench loosened as I moved my hands to press against his chest, and I let my eyes shut, as he had let his. Harry’s hands moved to my waist, and I felt him smile into the kiss, and I even smelt a small grin tugging at the edges of my own lips.
When he pulled away, I had to hold back a disappointed sigh, but our foreheads rested against each other’s and I dared peel my eyes open. I gasped a little when I saw that he was looking at me, and he smiled.
Reluctantly, I pulled my head away from his and gave a light laugh as I felt my cheeks heat up. I averted my gaze to the ground, and quickly spun around, muttering, “The others are probably waiting for their drinks...”I finished putting ice cubes into a few cups, which Harry took out to them for me, throwing a cheeky grin at me over his shoulder. I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to the other cups, but when I was sure he was out of the room, I let a big grin spread across my face.
Alex waltzed into the kitchen, a confused look on his face. “What was he looking all dopey about?”
“I-“ I grin a bit. “Nothing...”
She raises her eyebrows, a smile spreading across her face. “You sucked face! Didn’t you?”
“Maybe...” I mutter, still smiling.
“Well I hope you didn’t get any spit in our drinks,” she says, biting her lips and leaning over the counter.
I elbow her playfully, giving a laugh as Livvy enters the kitchen. “What’s been taking so long?”
“Jaz made out with Haz!” Alex exclaims laughing.
“Shh...” I say, blushing.
“Really?” Livvy asks, and I shrug, not looking at either of them.
“Hey, you kissed in the kitchen!”Alex says randomly. “That’s where Niall and I first kissed too!” She laughs as my face morphs into an understanding one.
“Coincidence?”
“I think not,” Alex says, picking up two cups- hers and Niall’s. Of course. “I believe that the kitchen has used its powerful magic to bring couples together!”
Livvy grabs two cups as well- probably hers’ and Liam’s’- and I grab the last one- mine- and we follow Alex out of the kitchen, walking side by side. She smiles, and leans over to me whispering, “I think I need to bring Liam in here then.”
We all burst out laughing as we enter the lounge room, and everyone turns to look at us. I’m honestly not surprised to see Serena resting her head on Louis’ chest and Ally sitting on Zayn’s lap, grinning. “What’s so funny?” Niall asks, smiling as he makes his way over to Alex, taking his drink from her. He plants a kiss on her forehead and she still blushes, as always.
“Oh, nothing,” Livvy says grinning. Her gaze meets Liam’s and he shoots her a wink, making her blush too. I shake my head at the two of them, and decide I better fit in, so I sneak a look at Harry, who’s watching us- me in particular- smiling. I feel my cheeks heat up as well.
SORRY.
Really short chapter but I'll make it longer soon! :)
