Across the world in a place called Surrey, England, a young boy with raven black hair and piercing emerald green eyes was staring up at the ceiling of the smallest room of Number 4 Privet Drive. A quiet hot captured his attention and he looked over at the one friend he had that liked him for himself. A beautiful Snowy Owl watched him from inside her unlocked cage with golden eyes.

"I'm alright Hedwig." He rasped, wincing in pain as he sat up on the uncomfortable bed. he was wearing the too large clothes of his cousin, the grey shirt falling off one shoulder and covered in holes. The boy stretched carefully, making sure not to aggravate his injuries further. He placed his large bulky glasses on the bridge of his nose and stood. He stumbled and ended up kneeling on the wood floor of his room when his leg gave out from under him. Hedwig screeched quietly as he stood, holding onto the wall for support, face bleached white from the pain. Harry noticed a sealed envelope on his desk and placed it in his baggy pants pocket, feeling grateful for once that his cousin was larger than he was With a grunt and more willpower than he wanted to admit it took, he left the room, headed to the kitchen to get started on his relatives breakfast.

He missed his owl narrowing her eyes and pressed the door of the cage open, and flying out of the open window. She passed the hidden Order members easily, having them think that she was merely going hunting like she normally did. Had they been paying attention, they would have known that she only hunted at night. As she went on her self appointed task, the raven haired youth stumbled into the kitchen just as his aunt came down the stairs.

"Why hasn't breakfast been started yet Boy?" She snapped, eyes narrowing in anger at the teen.
"Sorry Aunt Petunia." Came the quiet raspy reply. The woman snorted angrily and turned her back on him, thus missing the dangerous gleam that shone in angry eyes. He turned and went started the grueling task of making a five course meal. It was as he finished the full English breakfast that his uncle and cousin could be heard getting out of their beds. His Hippo of an uncle didn't work on the weekends, so he slept in longer than he normally did. They descended the stairs as if it was a herd of elephants.

Harry quickly finished placing the food onto the table and made a break for the backdoor to begin his outside chores, hoping his aunt didn't notice that he had placed a roll into his pocket for his breakfast. He made it out with no problem and gave a sigh of relief. He vaulted over the back fence, trying to ignore the pain that the maneuver caused, and escaping the watchful eyes of the order members sent to watch him. With a quick glance around he pulled out the envelope and peeled open the wax seal.

Dear Lord Potter,
It has come to our attention here at Gringotts, that there has been an error with the Potter account Manager, along with discrepancies with the late Lord Potter's will. Enclosed within is a portkey that will bring you to the main branch in Diagon Alley. The passphrase is Gringotts Gold. We are expecting you at 7:00 on the morning of August the 2nd. If you are unable to arrive, we will send someone to retrieve you.

Regards,
Sharptooth, Head Goblin of Client Infractions and Head Goblin Enforcer

Harry read and reread the letter, feeling confused and shocked, 'Lord Potter? And the Late Potter's will?' he wondered. A grin appeared on his face as he realized that not even the Order of Flaming Chickens could stop him from going the next morning. He hid the letter once again and spent the rest of his day doing the chores his aunt gave him to complete, staying out of the way of his uncle and cousin.

Night fell quickly and Harry found himself thrown into his room by his uncle. He glared at the door as all of the locks slammed into place. He pulled himself up from the floor and approached his desk. Hedwig cooed at him as he slumped into his creaky chair.
"I'm ok girl." He replied, green eyes dull. His snowy owl hooted softly and ruffled her feathers as he pulled out the letter and read it once again.
"7:00 can't come soon enough.' he thought to himself. Harry stood from his desk and opened the window so that Hedwig could fly out for her nightly hunt, before flopping onto his bed and letting his eyes slip close, and sleep over took him.

The next morning he woke at 4, too excited to stay asleep. Hedwig watched him as he got up and stood slightly out of view of the street as he looked out the window. A small distortion from the road below caught his eyes and he felt a frown appear on his face.
"Looks like the clumsy one is back for their shift in Harry watching." he stated almost silently. He watched the sun appear over the horizon and let the warm wrap its welcoming arms around him, before he was called to make breakfast for the horse, walrus, and the hippo.

Harry kept an eye on the clock as he did his chores, each minute feeling like a lifetime. Just before the clock struck 6:45, his aunt forced him into the yard to do the gardening. He grumbled under his breath as he pulled the weeds from the flower beds. As the clock finally hit 7, he let out a sigh of relief and slid his hand into his pocket and he said the password. With a nearly silent pop, the black haired teen disappeared from the garden, the watcher not seeing a thing.
