3)At the Orphanage

Once back at the orphanage, the two girls were hanging out near their room, when Annalise, their third roommate, had walked out of their room.

"It's nearly time for dinner... what the heck is that?" Annalise virtually screamed as she saw Amber.

"This is my cat, Amber," Marilynn hissed, as if daring Annalise to argue.

"C-cat? You got a cat?" Annalise continued to shriek. Lilyanne covered her ears, and Amber ran into Marilynn's arms. Marilynn nodded while glaring. She didn't like the look in Annalise's eyes. "Well it's almost time for dinner," Annalise glared back at Marilynn, who put Amber down and watched as the cat walked into the room. Two of the three then walked down the hall to an uneventful dinner.

At the end of dinner, the three girls, one redhead, one blonde, and one with raven black hair walked back to their shared room. All were shocked when Annalise walked into dinner late, as she was usually there on time, or earlier. But it became clear to Marilynn as to why Annalise came late as they walked into the room. Amber was lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds in her chest, a pair of bloody scissors lying next to her. Lilyanne's eyes widened, Annalise turned around secretly grinning, and Marilynn screamed.

"Wh-what did you do?" Marilynn rounded on Annalise, who turned back around with a look of shock on her face.

"Why do you think I did this?" said girl screamed back.

"Because you didn't like her!" Marilynn broke down, crying as she ran from the room, thinking that she was cursed to have everyone and anyone she loved die. She ran to a closet, her closet, and locked herself inside. Marilynn must have sat there for five minutes before the door was opened. How, Marilynn wasn't sure. Lilyanne moved in and sat down next to Marilynn.

"I'm sorry, it was my idea to adopt Amber. My fault she died," Lilyanne whispered. Marilynn fell into her, and continued to sob.

"But I agreed," Marilynn said through her sobs. The two fell asleep sitting there. Mourning the loss of the cat Amber.

Marilynn woke to a purr. She slowly blinked her eyes opened and glanced around. She jerked awake and stared at a skeletal cat that was looking at her. Next to her Lilyanne grunted in her sleep. Marilynn quickly glanced at Lilyanne, then back at the cat.

"Amber?" she whispered. The cat meowed. "You want me to follow you?" Marilynn asked again as Amber rubbed against her leg. Said cat moved out of the closet with Marilynn following behind her. Amber led Marilynn outside the orphanage, where her ghostly sister Andrea was waiting.
