Chapter Five

KELLY'S POV

"Hello?" asked a curious voice after Gabriel pressed the button. I gave him a quick sideway glance, he had a wide grin on his face, and he seemed to be comforted by that voice. I couldn't blame him to be honest, we have finally succeeded in our first step to finding his father.

"It's me, Gabriel, you know, Jason's son."

"Jason's son?" the reply came, shaky and anxious. "Wait hold on a minute I am coming." Footsteps were heard in the distance that became louder as he approached the door. We heard several clicking noises, making me guess he was unlocking the many locks he seemed to have. He has to be protecting himself from the freaks, only reason why he would obviously have that many locks.

Finally, after what seemed like a good thirty seconds, the door opened slightly and I could see a man peeking out. He sighed with relief after he saw Gabriel's face but tensed after seeing mine. I gave him a small, gentle smile, hoping it would help him relax a little.

It worked, the tension on his face slowly relaxed off and he smiled warmly back at me. He opened the door fully and stood there, staring at Gabriel.

After what seemed like two minutes, he finally realized that we were standing outside. His cheeks turned a light shade of red as he stepped aside.

"Come in, come in." he said, ushering us forward. Gabriel glanced at me which I avoided by taking interest in the doorknob. He sighed and walked in front of me entering the apartment. I followed him and watched the man close the door after us. Six locks, that's how many locks he has. I am guessing he had a not-so-nice encounter with the freaks.

He led us towards the living room. It had two sofas and a table in the middle. He stood by the door and nodded at me and Gabriel to sit at one of the sofas. Gabriel sat down and I sat down as well, keeping a full length of thirty centimeters between us.

"Water? Food? Anything?" he asked us.

"One glass of water please." Gabriel said, ignoring my existence.

I tensed, girls hate it when guys don't give them proper attention.

"Make that two please." I smiled at him. I could see Gabriel smirk from the corner of my eyes but I didn't acknowledge that. My arm was throbbing in pain and I needed to do something about it. I should ask the man later on, maybe he has some pills that can help me.

A minute later the man came back holding a tray with two glasses of water. I watched Gabriel gulp his glass in two seconds while I drank slowly, savoring the taste of cold water on my dehydrated tongue.

I sighed as I placed my cup on the tray. The sofas felt so welcoming and comfortable underneath me. I was really tired and I felt like i could drift to sleep any minute, but no, we had information to find out.

GABRIEL'S POV

"Gabriel, I am not pretty sure if you remember me or not. But...how did you find out my address?"

I grinned at him as wide as I could. "Will." I said, which earned a grin from him too. However, the grin vanished in matters of seconds into a depressed face. I sighed and looked at the floor, the memories of his death overwhelming me.

"He did teach you a lot." murmured Diego. I smiled sadly at him, Will is the greatest teacher someone could ever dream of.

"Yes he did. He was the greatest teacher alive." I said, flinching at the word was.
