Chapter Five: Bloody Buddies Part III
Kilroy stood at Gravemont hospital, he had to talk to Will and this couldn’t be delayed for the night as the night was for someone else.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kilroy was standing next to his white van. He had parked it behind a tree next to Will’s apartment far enough so that Will couldn’t see his van glowing lightly in the dark. As he was suspecting William to be the murderer even though Will hardly looked like a vampire who could hurt someone.
Sam saw Will coming towards the window to his right with an aluminum bat in his hand. He moved back afraid that his vampire senses had alerted him and he was coming towards him. He was surprised when Will swung the bat towards the dustbin near the window and he saw a girl drop down with a thump. He picked her up and took her inside his apartment, the bat still in his hand.
Sam watched on in anticipation. What if he killed this girl too? Wait, this was a vampire not a human girl like Morgan, what was she doing here anyway? Sam moved forward and replaced her at the dustbin.
He almost sprang inside through the window when he saw Will take her inside the bedroom. He didn’t expect this from him. He sighed in relief when he came outside and locked the door and sat down to watch a chick-flick.
What was wrong with this guy, he locks a vampire in his bedroom and sits down to watch a movie calmly? Sam shook his head in amazement.
After a few minutes of him trying to decipher what Will was watching, he heard the sound of bed springs and saw Will approaching the locked door with an aluminum bat. Sam controlled the urge to laugh when the girl snatched the bat and molded it into a bowling ball. This girl was what people these days say, “Cool.”
Sam started moving back towards his van as he doubted that this girl was as unobservant as Will. He waited for the girl to come out, some interrogation was in need. He had to wait for about fifteen-minutes, but those were some interesting minutes. This girl was hilarious; he couldn’t wait to talk to her. He didn’t miss the slipups though and Will stole blood from the hospital? This could come in handy. Kilroy smirked at this thought.
Finally, Kristina stalked towards his van, with some blood bottles in her hand, she opened one and drained it down and then passed just by him, throwing the glass bottle towards him without heed. Sam caught it deftly, the girl turned back surprised to not hear the sound of glass smashing on the concrete.
Before she could turn up towards him, Will pushed the tear filled syringe onto her neck and took hold of her hands.
“Move and be prepared to die.”
The girl stood stick straight.
“So, Girlie. You better start with the back-story.” Kilroy displayed his ID card to her, not the medical investigator one obviously.
“My name is Kristi, 16 years old biologically, 5 years of vampire life, made by Candace ”
Sam had phased out at that point, Candace…
The girl who was the only pending case he ever had. His one moment of weakness and he had lost her. He was so close that day. She was here, this was not good. Did she remember him?
If not, then why was she here? Sam thought out loud and focused back on Kristi’s voice.
Kristi hrugged,“Like Miss mysterious would tell me why she was here? Why don’t you ask her yourself?” Sam glared at Kristi to continue.
“She called me up here and as I owe her my life, I had to come. Then she asked me to keep an eye on that paranoid vampire back there.” Kristi lifted her finger towards Will who was sitting on the couch again, busy in watching the movie.
“You owe her your life? The Candace I know doesn’t sound like that. What would she do?”
Will walked out of the hospital only to see Sam waiting for him. He freaked out and dropped the blood transfusion bags he was carrying. Sam picked them before they could reach the ground.
“Stealing, are we?”
“What? No, I was just taking them for…”
“For? Did someone need a blood transfusion? ”
Will stepped back as Sam placed his hand on his forehead as if checking his temperature.
“Feeling lightheaded Will? Maybe you need to have some blood. ”
Will shrugged.
“Anyways, we will talk about your badass outlaw ways later. So, a little birdie told me that you are hitting on vampire chicks. With baseball bats.”
“How do you know? I mean who told you that?” Will tried to correct his slip-up.
“I have sources. That is not the question though my friend? The question is why did you hit her? Does hitting innocent vampire girls inflates your ego? Cause that is sick man! ”
“That was not it. It was just that she was creeping around my apartment and that looked quite creepy to me at the time.”
“Whatever you say.” Then Sam pointed two fingers at his own eyes and then at Will to emphasize that he will be keeping an eye on him.
“By the way, you are free for tonight, I have some research to do.” Will wondered what was with the sudden change of plans but stayed mum as he didn’t want Sam to pester him about last night.
Will started walking towards the bus stop but was held back by Sam.
“Come with me, I will drop you.”
Will sat in the car, his face scrunched up in puzzlement as Kilroy drove off his van towards his apartment.
