Hijab is to be done only with opposite gender outside of family, right? like only with opposite gender people that are not blood related to us?
Islam tells us to show modesty with everyone. Even people of the same gender.
why?
because not everyone you meet is nice.
people do get mentally and physically abused under the name of 'kidding' and 'fun'
your features maybe talked about behind your back in a shameful way.
There are thing that don't feel right but you allow it thinking you may just be over reacting, after all they are of the same gender. you try to ignore the discomfort.
and yes, evil eye does exist. It comes mostly with jealousy.

when you are modest with everyone,
you are respected.
your comfort zone isn't tampered with.
and people hesitate before talking shamefully about you.
jealousy doesn't happen easily and you earn the inner peace your soul has been longing for.
and that's why islam promotes modesty before attention.
avoiding the cravings of attention is hard but worth it.
it's like a clean diet for your soul,
protection from evil minds.
