Freshman Feelings

“You know Caroline, Amber told me that we are getting a few new kids this year. Maybe we will meet, ‘the one’,” Adalee said jokingly.
“Why do you mock the fact that we could meet the one? It really could happen you know! You could be walking through the halls, then you bump into the new guy. You look into his eyes as he helps you pick up your things,” Caroline said fantasizing.
Adalee giggled and mocked, “Yes and then we will ride into the sunset on our white horse.”
“Ha ha very funny Adalee, but really don’t you want to meet the sweet guy who brings you flowers and cuddles with you during a movie?” Caroline asked seriously.
“Yes, I do but those guys are rare and I doubt any of them will be attending this school anytime soon.”
“Well why don’t we go shopping later in case you do meet the one! Meet me at Arminian at three?” Caroline suggested.
“Sure see you there at three!” Adalee said waving goodbye to Caroline.
Walking over to her ride, Adalee pulled out her phone and entered her messages. Sending a message to everyone in her contacts, she reported a party at her place around seven. Smiling, she put her phone away and got into her brother’s car.
“Hey Sis! What’s with the smiling?” Ronnie asked. Continuing he said, “What did you do this time?”
Noticing Ronnie’s smile she answered, “Well, I may have invited the entire high school over to the house for a summer’s end party. Mom and Dad won’t be home so why not take advantage of the free time we have?”
“Where to first? We have a lot of work to do before everyone arrives,” Ronnie said joining in on Adalee’s master plan.
“Well first I need you to drop me off at the Arminian Mall. Caroline and I are going shopping. While we are doing that can you pick up the snacks and beverages? Find something to wear while you’re at it!”
“You got it little sis!”
"Pick me up after a few hours or so and we can start setting up for the party."
"Ya sure. No problem."
Ronnie drove his little sister to the Arminian Mall. Caroline was waiting for their arrival when they pulled up. Dropping off Adalee, Ronnie drove off in his sharp green mustang. The girls hopped from store to store buying anything adequate they found.
Walking out of Wet Seal giggling Adalee chattered, “And when Andy tripped over the chair and landed in the trash can! Classic!”
“Don’t forget the time Sheila tried pulling off that horrid plaid sweater on picture day!” Caroline added reminiscing.
Minimizing her laughter Adalee questioned Caroline, “So what are you wearing to my party tonight?”
“Well I was thinking about wearing my new Tadashi Shoji One-Shoulder Lace Sheath! You know the one I bought at Chanel,” Caroline exclaimed.
“Well actually I think you should wear the Embroidered Filigree Ruffled Hem Crepe Halter. It really brings out your eyes! Plus I’m wearing my Red One Shoulder Atria dress.” Adalee said trying to talk Caroline out of her original decision.
Contemplating her decisions Caroline gave Adalee an upset expression, but she didn’t notice it. Caroline hopped into her personal limousine and her chauffeur drove off. She sat on the curb and waited for Ronnie to pick her up. Adalee waited and waited while the clouds in the sky began darkening and gathering together.
The mall locked up all the doors and the parking lot was dark besides the few lights scattered around. The storm was still gathering and Ronnie still hadn’t arrived. Pulling out her phone with high aggravation she called Amber. Soon after she ended the call the rain began pouring down. Adalee, frantically searched for cover.
In the matter of twenty minutes Amber’s brother, Ashton pulled up to the curb in his blue Ferrari. A very soaked, and upset Adalee, slid into the sports car holding her high heels by the straps. When she sat in the seat Ashton was observing her and laughing. Although she was angry with her own brother she couldn’t help but laugh.
