ON LAND

"I hate you, Lotor."

Keith Kogane, the fairly well-known yet still quite young pirate snarled. The taller and more confident man smirked down at his younger crewmate. "You hate me, do you?" Lotor leaned in a tad bit closer to the boy, who simply pushed him and stepped away. "Oh, Kogane, you know I was only joking," Lotor laughed, though the other didn't seem nearly as thrilled. "Just call me Keith." the younger boy growled before walking off with his usual annoyed frown on his pale face.

Lotor shook his head. "He takes things far too seriously." he muttered with a roll of his sparkling eyes.

Keith didn't think he took things 'too seriously.' He thought he took things just the right amount of seriously. I mean, someone had to take things seriously around here, right? Keith was the youngest on the often shaky ship, so naturally, he didn't have very many friends. Of course, he knew all of his crewmates well, but he didn't particularly enjoy their presences. Especially not Lotor's. Thank goodness his older brother, Shiro, was always around and there for him. Otherwise, Keith wouldn't be able to handle all of the stress from the crew and flirty remarks from Lotor. Keith heard a knock at the door and, fast as any instinct, replied to the noise with a carefree, "Come in."

"You know you can't sit in here all alone forever, right?" Shiro's voice was low and calming. Keith liked hearing it. It put him at ease.

"Yeah, I know," Keith sighed. "Lotor's being annoying as usual." he added. Confiding in other people was a huge no-no for Keith. But confiding in Shiro was natural and, in some cases, a necessity.

"He does that." Shiro laughed, sitting beside his younger brother with a sympathetic smile. Keith knew Shiro wasn't entirely fond of the bossy and seductive Lotor either. Shiro was just naturally better at dealing with other people than Keith was. Keith nodded in response, for lack of things to say.

Shiro and Keith heard a familiar voice shout, "We've found land!". The crew wasn't quite the brightest, but obviously they knew when they saw a piece of land. Both brothers jumped to their feet and rushed out Keith's small 'bedroom' door to see what was going on. That is, if you could even call it a 'bedroom.'

And there it was. The land that the crew had found. It wasn't anything special, but it was land. Keith missed the ground. Whoever insisted on handling and steering the ship was doing a terrible job. Lotor greeted the pair of brothers right when they exited the small room Keith had been hiding away in. "How nice of you two to join us again," Lotor remarked, adjusting a singular strand of his long, soft purple (almost white!) hair. "Uh-huh. Sure." Keith crossed his arms and adjusted his own hair, which was, unfortunately, a mullet. As unfortunate as the hairstyle was, though, Keith seemed to rock it.
