Zhang's Journey

Commander

  The week of Zhang's freedom passed quickly. He mostly spent his time training his earth and fire bending with Uyi and Unami. They were very helpful in showing him the basics and a little more. Zhang was determined to master the elements before Uhnderstone finally launched a plan and invaded the overworld. He'd need teachers, but where could he find them? He asked himself this question often.

  The week finally came to an end and Zhang was ready. He had been ready when he was given the order to come and help the military. The morning of once again meeting the commander came and when it did Zhang woke energized and happy. That would change soon. The team left the house early as demanded by Commander Dakota. Uyi and Unami lagged behind Zhang. They were not as energized or as happy. They never really were when it was so early n the morning. They walked the same path they had the last time they visited the Military center.

  Finally, they arrived at the base. They were led to a room much like the planning room that they had seen before. This one had a new map of the overcity on the table in the center of the room. But the map only covered half the table, the other half held a map of Uhnderstone. Commader Dakota sat at the end of the table and three other military men were sitting on each side. "Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your short freedom," said Dakota as he stood in front of his chair.

  "It's good to be back, Commander. Where should we start with this planning?" said Zhang taking a seat at the opposite end of the table.

  "Well, we thought you should tell us, wise-guy,"  announced Dakota as he sat down.

  "Oh, I see. Fair enough. Let's get to business. I believe that we should look to the citizens of the over-city. I think that everyone would ike to have bending back. They're just too afraid to act on their beliefs,"

"Yes, that may be. But what are we going to do to make them fight? We can't exactly put up flyers,"

"True, but we could find the people who are already breaking the rules and rebelling, we could ally them,"

"Very well, also what do we do about the millitary? Guezlee city has soldiers armed to the teeth. How are we going to be peacful about avoiding them or attacking them?,"

  "Our soldiers are never to attack first but if the Guezlee soldiers become hostile, so will we," said Zhang

"Very well," said the commander,"Everyone other than the avatar is dismissed,"  The soldiers all left and so did Uyi and Unami. Zhang was afraid of the Commander. He had no idea he'd have to be alone in a room with him. The man was a strong figure. His beard was heavy on his face and the dark green of Dakota's eyes intimidated the avatar.

"Avatar, our city is on the verge of being discovered. Our scouts have been captured and no doubt they are being tortured untill they give out info," said the commander with a grim look,"You are a blessing to Uhnderstone. You are our most powerful assett. We have to start the invasion soon but I will not begin the raid untill you have mastered the elements. I have arranged for you to begin lessons with a powerful firebending teacher by tomorrow. In the morning you will help prepare us for war, in the noon you will practice your hardest to achieve your full power,"

   "Yes sir, I understand. This city is our only hope I see now. As the avatar I will protect this city with my life and live day and night to serve you and th people of Uhnderstone,"

"I sure hope so. We need you, Avatar,"
