❝Death is the only adventure I have the patience for,

  ☼

My legs burned in pain from all the walking and running I've been doing the past few days, I wanted to just collapse then and there. Not getting enough sleep for the past few days have been causing me to have hallucinations. My heart raced as I kept walking. I couldn't go on but I did, my feet ached from the miles of land I covered.

My hand stopped touching the sign in front of me but the black rings that fogged my vision made it slower than what it actually was. I coughed blood into my pale hand. I felt my body hit the ground, another short cough. Blood. I inhaled deeply then exhaled. My vision blurred as the sound of boots thudding in the distance got closer to me, my eyes slowly closed. My breathing was uneven. Then I felt nothing but nothingness.

  ☼

I managed to open my eyes in an unfamiliar area. My lips were cracked from the pity amount of water I've had since I blacked out. My head was still dizzy from the lack of anything lately. I tried to yell out help but instead, I was abruptly stopped with a muffled squeak. I lifted my hand up to feel the cloth around my face. I heard people walking by with a conversation playing. "When Lorenzo find this lady?" I heard a male voice ask as the sound of a pen clicked. They're keeping track of me. My heart raced as the conversation stopped. "I think she said it was around Thursday night or Friday morning, she couldn't remember. It was that late? The door started to make a loud crash noise which made me jump. Then the door opened. The sunlight hit my skin but the brightness caused me to cringe backward. I repeatedly tried to blink my eyes but it wasn't gonna clear my vision. The sound of clattering dishware and a glass hit the floor of whatever I was in. I clenched my hands as I waited for them to leave.

They watched me as they slowly got out of the thing. The door slammed shut, then the footsteps continued on. I crawled over to where I thought the food was, but the sudden change in lighting caused my senses to be off. I picked up the water then drank out of it. My throat was so dry from the heat and the endless days followed by nights with no water. I quickly finished up the food then my head hit the ground.

  ☼

Alarms blared as all the doors to these things were open. Get out! Get out! The first thing I thought of. But no, I was going to stay here where the door was locked. My heart raced as I slammed my fists into the door hoping that I would be able to push t open with the mere strength I had left, but all I could do was pound against it while I screamed in agony from the pain in my sides.

The alarms stopped suddenly but then I realized the alarms were just in my head, I was going crazy form not eating or drinking anything. I fell to my knees as I heard footsteps, hoping it was someone to feed me. The sound of the door unlocking made my breath hitch in my throat.

The man that appeared was slimmer than the guys who normally fed us, they acted like we were cattle or something by this guy looked like he had more brains than glory. His face was unshaven and his hair was shaggy but he pointed to me. "Get up and follow me," he ordered, not knowing what was going on and not wanting to get hurt followed despite the voice in my head that screamed for me to stop. I limped, my feet hurt for some strange reason.

It was all in a haze but I was suddenly in a doctors office being examined. "Patient 207, you show signs of extreme dehydration and a decrease in appetite," the woman who was speaking told me, my heart skipped. Decrease in appetite? "You will be placed in the medical wing with someone who checks on you every 2 hours, you will be fed food with enough nutrition to help you recover while you will be drinking water every time you can, while still hooked up to an iv," She rambled on but that's her job. My mind wandered as I looked around the strange room, the white coloring of the room with the soft lights made me tired. The doctor smiled as something was jabbed into my neck, I gasped as I quickly reached for where she punctured my neck.

My eyes flickered open again, I was in a different room this time. My hand reached for the area where that doctor put something into my neck. It was patched up. Why waste supplies like that. I looked around hoping to find where I was, my pounding headaches were gone as well as my endless hunger and thirst. I reached for the iv that was pumping liquids in my veins. I tore it out trying to escape. I pulled out with a satisfying snap. I got up as my feet hit the cold tile flooring. I managed to pull myself over to the door, but it was locked. Not again. My heart raced as I started pushing against the door. The handle kept making a rattling noise as I jiggled it up and down. Then I looked up to see a woman in a mask open the door. "Stop that, you are in a facility where you can't be waking everyone up," she said in a hushed voice then shut the door.

There was the doctor that saw me when I first came in here. I ran up to the door and pounded on the wall. She jumped and shook her head. Her hand lifted to make a 'one' gesture. I stood there with my breath caught in my throat. She opened the door with a soft smile. "Are you feeling better?" She asked as she checked up on my clipboard. I nodded, itching at my wrists. "Well, it seems to me that you are hydrated, well fed. You can leave, I will get you an escort that will arrive in about an hour," She said, more markings on her clipboard. I nodded my head in appreciation as she left. I got up and started to pace as I waited for my escort to arrive.

  ☼

The person who was my escort was a newer guy, he reminded me of Rick. My eyes lowered as I thought about him, I haven't had a single thought of him till I came to this place. The guy had a scruffy beard, blue eyes, and a muscular build. "Pardon me, but do you mind if I ask your name," I muttered hoping he would respond. The guy turned around with a soft smile, his smile made me want to curl up into his arms and tell him about all my problems. "Kai, but may I ask what your name is?" He questioned causing me to smile softly. "Saige," I replied back, I clenched my hands, then realized my biking gloves were gone, the sound of scrunching leather wasn't there. "Um, where's my stuff," I commanded, it wasn't really a question more of a threat. "Just up in this room," Kai said as he led me to a room that was completely empty other than my own stuff, I let out a huge sigh of relief. He took out a keycard and swiped it against something causing the door to fling open. I raced towards it, picked it all up. There was a bathroom. I went inside it, there was a shower. I stripped of my clothing and got in the warm water. I had shivers go down my spine from the warm water.

As I exited the shower my hands lightly grazed over the tiling in the room, I slowly got dressed examining the area, hoping to find something to explain where I was. After I was fully dressed I walked out of the room to find Kai still waiting. "Took you awhile," He said with a smirk, I rolled my eyes playfully. "Now take me wherever you were gonna take me," I joked, Kai wore a smile on his face like it was armor. "Then let's go, Angel," He jested, I rolled my eyes again and playfully punched his shoulder.
