Amyra stared at his phone as it sat on his side of the bed. Just sitting there. The screen reflecting the light in the room shimmering as her thoughts echoes in her mind. She tried to listen to her heart and believe that he would never hurt her like that again. He would never crush her soul and wreak havoc on her mind again.
Tristan was usually a man of his word despite the broken promises the last two years. He made permanent promises this time to save her the ache. He made promises to be as loyal as the beginning of their relationship. Being her love bunny once again.
But, let's not forget what happened when Amyra caught Tristan with Patrice last time. In the bed Amyra shared with him, wrapped in each other's arm. Sweaty from their sins. Amyra eyes watered as she remembered the screaming, and the tears, and crashing his car into the nearby canal when speeding away from the scene.
Or the time she caught him texting Ashley, a white girl. Telling her how good her sex was and how he's so happy he paid for her "bubble butt." Telling Ashley that Amyra was a best friend and that he would never date a black girl as dark as she. "They're not that pretty."
Amyra's heart sputtered like a dead engine as Tristan phone buzz's with a text. Amyra eyes glance to the bathroom where steam was emitting from under the door. Flowing up like thick strings of cigarette smoke. He's still in the shower, getting ready for a business party that she wasn't invite too. Again.
This was her only chance to quiet these thoughts to either prove herself wrong... or right. Inhaling a sharp breath, Amyra crawls over to his side of the bed and grabs the phone. Using her fingerprint to unlock the phone. Amyra clicked the notification and her heart jerked as he saw one of ex-flings sent him a new message.
Ashley: Remember, you have to come in through the back door because my parents are home
Amyra clutched his phone hard enough to break the screen as a tear hits the screen. Amyra scrolls through the numerous texts and sexts between the two that have been going on for the last month. Her heart speeding up with each tap. He never stopped.
Her nerves caused her hands to shake as Amyra places his phone back on his dresser. Clearing her face, she sniffs and stands from the bed. Since he loves other women so much and he can finally be with them without her beside him. Opening the closet door, the ding of another message caused her to pause.
Amyra looks down as the noise from Tristan's phone rings again, but his screen didn't have any notifications. The sound caught her attention again. It was coming from inside the dresser. Crouching down, Amyra opens his drawer and felt his clothes vibrating. Confusion locked onto her face as she flipped through his various jeans to find a second phone.
Standing up her mind went into shock as she would have never guessed he was smart enough to have two phones. Maybe she was stupid enough not to check. She opened the phone to be faced with a lock screen. Amyra bit her lip as she typed in his birthday and the phone buzz's: Incorrect Password.
Amyra types in his mother's name and got the same notification. She had one more try before the phone locked. Her thumb glides over the keyboard as she types in Ashley's name.
"What are you doing?" Tristan's deep voice rings in her ears.
Amyra quickly turned to him, startled by his presence. Her eyes peered at his light skin that was covered in droplets of water as his towel hugged his waist. The dark look in his brown eyes could kill. But, she was done cowering from that pathetic look.
Amyra stood up, mimicking his expression as they both stared in silence. So, he was just going to glare? He wasn't going to be the agitated boy he's been for the past two years? Her anger was growing after each second. After each thought. Tristan began walking up to Amyra, his height towering the small girl, but she slings the phone towards him.
