Jack stood at the end of their private bar, keeping his eyes on Amyra as she feast on wings and celery on the opposite side. Chewing loudly and barking orders for more food and drinks on Jack's tab.
Despite the almost kiss playing in the back of his mind, Jack allowed his worry to outweigh all thoughts as he steps next to Amyra and places his hand on the lower part of her back.
Without a moment to waste, Amyra grasped his hand and forced it to his side with a warning glare.
Jack could feel a clump forming in his throat as Amyra continued sipping her drink. This moment may be the only time he has to get her out of the club before something happens.
As he opened his mouth, Amyra turned away from him. His effort was refused before his argument was stated. It was a clear now that this was the end.
Amyra held her breath hoping Jack would leave her alone. Her fingers relaxed their clammy hold on the glass as Jack retreats to his side of the bar.
With a sigh, Amyra flagged down the bartender so he could refill her drink. She just didn't want feel her body react to Jack.
As the bitter liquid rushed down her throat Amyra thoughts raced on about how she would be in the backseat of Jack's car if she let that kiss happen.
Letting Jack plant kisses all over her skin, have her body move in rhythm with him, fogging up the windows with their lust.
Gagging, Amyra finishes her drink and swiftly demands another.
A slight dread growing inside of her stomach knowing that she stumbled into the palm of another man hand.
Her eyes glanced to Jack as he continued the fruitless search for his friends.
What can a man like Jack do for her anyway? Besides be a great listener and a person who compromises. Places her needs before anyone else's.
Amyra curses to herself as she turned away from his tall figure and stared at the drink before her. Does she want to go down this path again?
Jack growl out in anger at the unread text messages in his phone.
How could his friends invite him out to the club, but not come?
There's a possibility the bastards cancelled without telling him again.
Checking the time on his watch, Jack bit the inside of his mouth as Amyra shot another nasty look towards him.
How was he supposed to tell her it was time to go? That he dragged her from her warm bed for nothing?
Dragging his feet, Jack sent a silent prayer for Amyra to understand the situation and put her health first.
"Listen, I don't think my friends are coming, so why don't we just go home?" Jack suggests.
He flinches away from Amyra's bitter laugh as she cleans her hands with a napkin. Her lips pursed in a sinister grin as she leans closer to Jack.
Jack caught his breath as he watched her foot slip and immediately held on to her swaying body. Is she really going to spite him?
As their eyes lock, Amyra felt her skin heat up as Jack's hand fully wraps around her waist. Amyra stared at his lips as her mind began drifting to the body underneath his clothes.
"Y'know," Amyra purrs, "you should fuck me."
Jack kept his composure as Amyra pulled herself into him. His body filling with a weird disgust as the thoughts of Amyra's naked body crosses his mind.
Amyra is a friend in a vulnerable place and he can't take advantage of her. No matter how much he wants to taste the beautiful woman in his arms.
Jack pulled Amyra's hands off his chest, turning away as confusion crosses her face.
"You-"
The sounds of whooping and hollering enters the section, cutting off Amyra's sentence. As the two of them turn to the sound, Jack muttered a number of curses under his breath as Jennifer and Thomas walk in; already drunk.
He steps towards them, with a scowl on his face as Jennifer throws her hands up and engulfs him in a bear hug with her skinny arms.
"My baby is here!" She squeals.
Not wanting to cause much of a disturbance for Amyra's sake, Jack returned the hug as Thomas stood behind them.
"Where have you guys been?" Jack grunts.
Jennifer giggles and falls back into Thomas who pulled her close before engaging in a drunken kiss.
Jack cleared his throat with a slight frustration, causing the couple to pull away. Thomas rolled his eyes as Jennifer hung loosely around his boy.
"We just came from Ivy's," Thomas explains to him as he takes a drink from a passing waiter.
Jack scoffs, "why did you tell me to come to Absynthe if all of you were at Ivy's."
Jack glanced to Amyra who was stirring her drink with sadness. He needed to get her home. This is no longer worth it.
"We're sorry." Jennifer pouts. "We were supposed to have been left, but then some rich dude came in and started buying everybody shots and it got a little out of hand."
Jack shrugged his shoulders as he went to Amyra's side and Jennifer and Thomas found some privacy in the dark corner.
"I'm serious, let's go." Jack says as he removed Amyra's drink from her hand.
"Before I meet your friends?" Amyra gasps as her eyes widen and the best of pouts played on her lips.
"I really want to meet them."
Jack battled with himself to keep from kissing those puckered plump lips as he helped her out of her chair.
"Amyra I'm getting you home, they don't matter."
Amyra nods in her exhausted stage as Jack began to help her to the exit. Wondering how she could possibly be rejected by the man who sleeps with anything.
All she asked for was a bit of his love, why can't she get that? Like Travis. All she asked for was a bit of loyalty, even from their younger days and received constant rejection.
It led to a string of bad choices and bad habits. She can't do that again. She can't invest like that again. Her heart was barred, yet somehow Jack has found a weigh to squeeze through them.
She should hate him for that. She should hate him for changing his ways for her. She should hate him for starting a friendship with her. She should hate him for actually trying to love her.
"Why are you crying?" Jack asks as he cruises down the road.
"I want chicken nuggets!" Amyra sobs.
