PREVIOUSLY

Ashley had her hands full with her parents; they were drilling her for no reason. She could never find the time to talk to us but it wasn’t just her parents who were acting weird. My dad had told me that I was supposed to be at the office on Monday to start my 8 week internship. I had absolutely no say in the matter. I just had to be there. When I tried to whine about it to my mother, she just told me to go and not argue.

I went and picked out my favorite corral shade bikini and walked to the pool. The sweltering heat didn’t offer any comfort to my situation; a dip in the pool always seemed to help me relax and think straight. Grabbing my Ipod off the counter I skipped down the stairs in my kaftan.

The feel of the cold water against my skin was blissful. Looking down into the water I watched the water make patterns with the sunlight. The day is perfect. I put my Ipod on shuffle and hey oh by red hot chilli peppers began playing. I closed my eyes and relaxed my the pool; even though  it was hot… it was still perfect. *PHAT*

“Mother fucker!” I yelled and looked up to find Makenna at the edge of the pool. She wore black overalls like she was in mourning. “Why  you asshat?” I asked her as I got out of the pool. “I called u 10 times! 10! And if you still don’t respond then that’s what you will get” she said crossing her arms. I was in half a mind to drag her into the pool and drown her. I would have NO regrets!

Controlling myself, I took a deep breath and sat down. She looked at me and smirked. “That must have taken a lot of self-control” she said sitting down cautiously. “OH! You have NO idea” I said gritting my teeth.

“So what happen?” I said reclining back. “HE SAID IT’S OVER! That’s what happen” she yelled with her hands in the air. “Okay… and?” I questioned. “And he drove off” she said burying her hands in her face. I knew she wasn’t going to cry over Daniel, her ego was hurt. I hugged her, knowing that all she would want is to not talk about it yet. “I’m fine” she said sniffing back her tears.

“Yes you are” I said and sat back. “Hey did Klara call you?” I asked trying to change the topic. “OH GOD Klara! Nia I didn’t mean to yell at her like that! I just got overwhelmed and I didn’t really handle it well! Wait let me call her” she said and pulled out her phone.

“Don’t bother, its going straight to voicemail” I sighed. “Nia!” Callum yelled from the house. He was panting by the time he got to us. “Hey! What's wrong?” I asked frightened. “Nate has been arrested”
