Ashley’s POV

My phone buzzed and I reached for it. Ezra was calling me. “Put it on speaker” said Makenna

Hey Ashley you know about Nia right?

Yeah! Is everything ok Ezra?

No not really. Callum doesn’t really have the best record at college. He is known for getting into many fights, when he was in school and also he is supposed to be a player. Like one girl every week sorts.

What? We yelled. Shit!  Oh god what do we tell Nia?

Let her get back. Let’s go over to her place tonight ok? Tell her mum tell her that Oliver and I will be joining as well… we need to talk to her.

Yeah! Ok. I’m on it

I just hope that Nia isn’t too into him.

 Chapter 8: a newer me?

Nia’s POV

“Thank you for an amazing night, I had fun!” I told Callum. We were strolling on the beach after a fantastic meal. Callum had booked the restaurant just for us and made sure that everything was in place to give us our privacy. The waiters who were waiting on us came in and left so quickly that after a point I barely noticed them.

“There is something you should know about me. I’m sure that that you haven’t had the time to check me and stuff. Which is totally ok I’ m secretly an assassin for the revolutionary army coming up in Chicago because of the 1912 War in one of the alternate dimensions currently being investigated by the UFE i.e The United Front of Earth” he said seriously looking down at the sand. I stared back, flabbergasted. Was there an appropriate reaction when your date tells you he is an assassin?

“UMM. Hmmph. Ok that’s cool…. But YOU should know that I am secretly from China undercover as Nia, an identity forced on me because the UFE kidnapped my daughter and I’m actually here to kill you.” I said looking away. He wrapped his arms around me and said “ I love how you are so cool about this!” he said laughing along with me.

“But I must say! It would be cool to have an assassin boyfriend! But you should know… my friends are crazy stalkers. I mean I think they are checking you right now!” I said giggling.

“About that… Nia you should know. I don’t have the best rep in college. I used to be crazy, getting into fights and dating like crazy” he said making small circles with his thumb on my hand.

“Yeah? Well who doesn’t have a crazy past?” I said squeezing his hand.

“No… it was real bad. I lost myself in all that. I’m sure people will come and tell you not to be with me but I want to ask you one thing. Just give me a chance? I’m not asking you to trust me right away. All I am asking for is one chance to show you that I am different now. Please don’t give into what the others have to say, just ask me. I will promise to be honest with you. I know that’s a lot to ask because obviously you will listen to what your friends have to say…” he said.

Why was he being so open? It was refreshing to be with someone who wasn’t afraid to admit that they did have a past that probably defined them wrong. I didn’t have the best record either and I could relate to what he had to say. “Callum, thank you for being so honest; I wasn’t really expecting this, to be honest I have had some bad experiences with my past boyfriends, some were so ridiculous that I shut myself out. Generally, if you hadn’t come home and taken me out, I probably would have taken a long time to go out with you because of my past. I know it that it wasn’t easy for you to admit that you had a bad past. We all have had it, I think I can let you define yourself to me without me listening to anyone else but you. Let’s just see where this goes. My friends only want what’s best for me, they are going to constantly be there for me, looking out because they have seen me at my worst but I am sure that they will give you a chance, once they meet you. For now, let’s not worry! The night is still young. What do you want to do?” I said playfully pulling his hand.
