the theme was glow, and when I thought of glow, the 3 things I thought of were happiness, neon signs and space. I decided to try to incorporate all of these in my cover, if there was a way of getting them all to correspond.
the black background allows the glow to stand out more, as well as appearing like the night sky. the colour that I saw the most when looking at neon signs on pinterest was purple, so I decided to use this for the glow in order to further show the neon sign effect (it also stands out well against the background). I also wanted to add small aspects of space, but I felt like having planets and stars in the background wouldn't really go with the mood of the cover, so decided to do 'doodle-like' space images surrounding the two girls.
and while I know this isn't the most conventionally happy of covers, I feel like its got a kinda blissful, content 'tone' (can covers have tones ?? I don't know) and that counts as happy in my opinion!
also 'lustre' means 'a gentle sheen or soft glow' so i thought it was fitting! (i'm pretty sure it's also french for chandelier but i'm not sure)
