2. Shattered Bottles

Chapter Two

I open the front door of my house to see my mom sitting by the table,reading newspaper and drinking coffee.

'Hey mom.What are you reading?'

'Hey Alexis,I was just reading about the poor kids who got hurt in an accident that recently happened .'

'Oh really?Where?'

'Michigan,they're still figuring out whether it was truly an accident or not.'She answered me and closed the newspaper.

'What do you mean?'I asked her.

'It was either an accident or someone wanted to be it like that,because the daughter of our city mayor was in it,luckily she is feeling well now.You know all the bad stuff that has been going on lately,apparently those gangs want to take over the city so what a lovely way to start form the mayor's family.'She said with a fear in her voice.

'Oh for god's sake mom those gangs have no power and you know it,so please don't panic.'I told her with a reassuring smile.

Our city has some gangs full with criminals and  the city police is doing everything to take them down but they're not doing anything bad at the moment,though they have a bad history,the police has no proof of it.

'So mom,where's dad?'

'He's at work,he should be home soon,it's almost time for his break.'

'Good,then we can have dinner together?'

'Of course,I'll call your dad to see if he's going to be here soon.'

As my mom grabs her phone to call dad,the front door opens and dad enters the room with grocery bags in his hands.

'Hey dad,I'll help.'I grabbed some of the bags and we took them in the kitchen.

'Oh Lucas,I was just going to call you.'My mom said with a smile.

'Let's have dinner,I'm so hungry.'I said helping mom to lay the table.

'How are things at school honey?'My dad asked.

'Well I'd say,actually there's something I wanted to tell you.'

'What is it?'My mom asked.

'Since it's our final year in school,our teacher decided it'd be a good idea if we all went on a trip in Colorado,for a week.'I told and looked at their faces to see their reaction.

'The whole class?'

'Yea everyone.'I answered reassuringly.

'Well if everybody is going,you should too,I'm fine with that.'Said my dad with a smile.

'Mom?'I asked her looking at her.

'I don't know Alexis,I just read a terrible thing happen..'My mom started but dad cut her off.

'Oh sweetheart,if you think about all the bad things happening in the world,then you'll never be able to do anything in life.'

'You're right but there are these stupid and terrible gangs all over the country,I barely let her go alone here and you're asking me to let her go alone in Colorado?'She said with a fear in her voice.
