Your P.O.V

The girls and I were walking along the train tracks back towards the town that we lived in. My friends and I like to go for little walks along the tracks and talk about stuff. Stuff that don't really matter until they're just memories.

"My mum wants to put me into a boarding school, just girls, but my dad says that he wants me to stay here and go to high school here. But I don't know what to do! The boarding school is really good, but all my friends are here!" Jennifer, one of my friends exclaimed.

"Whatever happens, I'll be staying here. Have to look after my dad after you know..." Mary-Anne trails off. Her mum passed away about three years ago, so she looks after he dad, who has been getting on really well with her around. Mary-Anne is a natural born carer, and her father loves her so much. "What about you Y/N? Do you know?"

"Yeah, I'm staying here. My parents like it here and don't want to send me to boarding school." I reply. It's true. My parents love it here, and they don't want me to leave either. I'm not mad about it, after all, all my friends and memories are here. There's a bit of a silence for a while, that's until Jennifer points ahead as she notices someone else on the tracks, walking towards us.

"Hey look, there's someone else up ahead!" She exclaims. I squint to try and make out who they are.

"I can't tell who they are. I think they're boys though." I say. As we get closer we begin to notice who they are. They're some boys in our year at school. Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern. Gordie and my parents are very close. Let me re-phrase that. Were very close. They were very close until they blocked everyone out after Danny's death. Danny was like an older brother to me, and Gordie and I have always been close. I wave at him and he sees me. He waves back. Chris, Teddy and Vern are also quite good friends of mine. I hang out with the guys sometimes. They are easier to talk to than the girls sometimes. We continue walking until we meet with the boys.

"Hey girls, what are you three doing out here?" Teddy asks in a tone that only Teddy would try to use on girls.

"Dude don't talk to them like that! This is why you don't have a girlfriend!" Chris smacks Teddy in the arm.

"We could ask you the same thing." Mary-Anne replies, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well," Teddy clicks his tongue, "I asked first."

"We were just walking. What about you?" I answer.

"Oh same..." Gordie says, being the terrible liar that he is.

"Gordie, I've known you since we were born, and that was a lie." I say pointedly. Chris smirks at me. I blush but hope that this heat hides it.

"Okay, but you can't tell anyone!" Vern says, whispering.

"Vern you don't need to whisper we're in the middle of nowhere." Jennifer points out, rolling her eyes. Vern nods and coughs before he speaks, as if he is about to make a speech to the whole world.

"We are going to find Ray Brower's dead body." Vern tells us. The three of us stare at them in shock.

"What? Are you insane? You'll be dead before you find it! They've searched everywhere!" Mary-Anne exclaims.

"My brother found the body and left it there because he didn't want to tell the police because he had just stolen a car and I was looking for pennies under the porch when I heard him talking to one of his friends about it." Vern explains in a blithering rush while glancing at Jennifer. He's so adorable! Everyone knows he has a crush on her but he doesn't know that we all know.

"Why do you want to find it though?" I ask them.

"Because we'll be famous!" Teddy yells. I nodded and laughed. Typical Teddy.

"Well I better go back home and check on my dad." Mary-Anne says.

"He'll be okay M, stop stressing. You just make your dad stress when you stress." Jennifer replies.

"Yeah I know but... You know how much I care for him." I nod. Mary-Anne walks past the boys in the direction of the small town we lived in.

"I better go with her." Jennifer tells me. I nod but decide to stay behind with the boys.

"So, can I come with you guys?" I ask them.

"What? No way! No girls allowed!" Teddy says in his most immature little kid voice possible.

"Shut up Teddy, of course you can Y/N." Chris replies, glaring at Teddy. I smile at him and then see a train coming towards us in the distance. I can see the girls ahead got off the tracks and are walking alongside the train in the opposite direction.

"Train." I announce. The boys turn their heads and we all get off the tracks. All except for Teddy.

"Teddy what are you doing?" I asked him.

"Teddy, come on." Chris says.

"Nah. I'm gonna dodge it." Teddy replies.

"Come on Teddy-man! Get of the tracks you're crazy!" Chris screams at him as the train gets ever closer.

"Train dodge. Dig it." Teddy replies with a slightly crazed smile.

"Get the hell off the tracks Teddy you wanna get yourself killed?" Chris yells, getting angrier and more upset. So were the other two boys. Gordie had a look of pure shock on his face and Vern was shaking violently.

"Just like the beach at Normandy!" Teddy yells, pretending to shoot at the train as it edges it's way closer to him. I look at Chris.

"Chris shit you have to do something he's gonna die!" I scream, my voice wobbling. Chris throws his stuff on the ground then runs up to Teddy on the tracks, wraps his arms around him and throws him off the tracks, he holds him down until the train has passed, all the while Teddy is screaming and thrashing.

"Don't need no babysitter!"

"You do too! Skin it."

"Could've dodged it.'

"Look Teddy you can dodge it on the way back. Now skin it." Teddy reluctantly does the strange handshake the boys have then he starts walking, Gordie and Vern following, leaving myself and Chris at the back. Silent tears were still streaming down my face. We walked in silence for a while before I had the courage to speak up.

"Chris." My voice wobbled. He looked at me.

"Y/N are you okay? Oh shit you're crying! Here come sit down on the side of the tracks with me for a bit." I nodded. He yelled ahead to the boys what we were doing and that we would catch up soon. "What's wrong?" He asked once we sat down.

"I just... I... I guess it's stupid but I just got so scared. What if one day Teddy does something stupid like that and you're not there to help?" I began to have a huge breakdown and i was sobbing. Chris just held me in his arms and wiped the tears off of my face.

"That's why I've always gotta make sure he's not doing anything stupid. Don't worry Y/N, no one gets hurt while I'm around." I thought about this a little then snuggled a little more into his chest, liking his arms around me. They were so gentle, but they were sturdy enough to let me know he was there. It made me smile. I looked up at him.

"Thank you Chris." I kissed him on the cheek and he blushed. I stood up and grinned at him. "Race you to the boys."

"You're on!"
