It was a bright and sunny day in Chernobyl, Kopachi kindergarten. It was recess time and all the children where outside and playing a fun game of hide-and-seek. Sam's favorite game. Sam was a five year old girl with a bright, fun, and playful attitude. She had wide amber eyes that shone every day, all day. Sam had bright blonde hair that she loved to brush and wear in pigtails held up with a pink ribbon, pink was always her favorite colour. Her once clean jean shorts were now covered in dirt, along with her pastel pink sweater, she was sitting in the dirt, under a slide in the playground. Sam was always the best at hide-and-seek, no one could ever find her. "Ready or not, here I come!" It was Sierra, Sam's best friend since they were only one year old. Sierra was a taller girl with long brown hair that was always curly and left down. Sam heard people being found left, right, and behind her. But she wasn't caught. Then there was a loud siren noise that rang out of the town, it was blaring loud, and Sam covered her ears to stop the noise. There was muffled talking that Sam couldnt make out through her hands, but it sounded like someone was saying her name, kind of like her teacher, Mrs. Heathers. Sam glanced over to look but then an explosion rang out, louder than the siren. Sam held her teddy bear tight to her chest and felt something warm and watery drip down her face, and didn't notice until she went to wipe it away. She was crying. She wimpered into her teddy bears stomach, then realized she couldn't breath when she tried to take a deep breath in. Sam dropped her bear and tried to breath but was cut off by a coughing fit, tears streamed faster down her face, Sam's insides felt like she just swallowed a rat on fire, it was clawing at her stomach from the inside. She tried to claw at the ground and get away but instead fell onto her side, and couldn't get up from her coughing no matter how hard she tried. The five year old screamed from the unbearable pain, and her vision started to blur. Her energy was being slipped away slowly. Sam gave up. Eyes shutting quickly, her breathing shallowed, and her mouth dried. Then she passed out in the dirt, with her teddy bear next to her.
Unknown to what was going to happen when she woke.
