"Ajah, who are you talking to?" Ajah's mom Miss- wait what's her last name again? Wow, she used to be my best friend an I don't even remember what her last name is.

Ajah's POV

"UM," I had to think of something fast, "IM ON THE PHONE!" yeah that's convincing.

"With who? At this hour?" She replied. Crud.

"Lu- I mean, Alexis." that was close. She left me alone after that, thank you.

I looked over at Luke to find him staring directly at me. We sat for minutes just looking at each other, and the more I looked at him the more I felt bad for him. I mean he was horrible to me, but he didn't deserve to be dead. Wait. Wasn't he shot? Who shot him then? Immediately I sat up as thoughts rambled through my head.

"Luke?" he looked up at me, "We need to find out who did this to you."

We spent almost the whole night trying to figure out motives and who would have a reason to shoot him. The only thing we could come up with were a few nerds and some girls.

There was:

1. Terrance Bistro

2. Ashley Cameron

3. Jason Bailey

4. Amy Redbird and

5. Angel Lucero

I guess it's time to investigate.

Luke's POV

This whole time I'd completely forgotten how I died. It seems like no one gave the slightest care about the crime committed! Now I'm furious. Not only does no one care about my death, but I was murdered! Oh someone's gonna feel my wrath.

But tomorrow, I'm not sure if ghosts sleep, but I'm tired.

The next morning I woke up in her bed without her beside me and with a disgusting taste in my mouth. Not like the morning breathe taste, but worse, like rotten meat. As I blinked my eyes the room began to get lighter and lighter and lighter, until complete white. I was back in the 'in between'

"Ah, there you are." Said a familiar voice

"Why am I here, and what's that," I pause as I rub my tongue trying to get that disgusting taste out, " horrible taste in my mouth." I could almost gag

"Oh that," he laughed, " it's just a side effect of being dead."

"Side effects? What do you mean?"

"Well, when you're faced with reality your body will slowly start to fade away, that taste, is the taste of your rotting insides, also you'll become really emotional, tired, angry," he laughs "almost like you're a forty five year old woman." I wanted to wake up, believe this isn't real, but I couldn't push my thoughts back. Fade away? Like disappear never to be seen again?

"What do you mean disappear?"

"In order to proceed to eternal happiness you must complete the task given, as well as come into terms with your death, we can't give you all the time in the world! There's rules to this, you have about 3 weeks before your body completely fades off into the darkness, and proceeds to, you know where."

"3 weeks?! That's not nearly enough time! How on earth am I supposed to find who killed me and make up with Ajah in Three Weeks?!" I was yelling frantically now, I can't believe I could be damned for an eternity.

"That's for you to find out." He says clearly as he walks away fading further with each step.

Within a blink of an eye I was back in her room, frozen in thought.
I looked over at her, she was sleeping beautifully, her hair was perfectly messy and she was relatively close to me. Her back was touching my chest and she was curled up with one leg in her blanket and the other outside of it. Her hair was slightly touching my nose and I didn't want anything to change.
She groaned a bit, shifting and turning towards me. her hair was completely covering her face now. I pulled the pieces of her thick black hair and placed them behind her ears. I could see her blinking slowly as she opened her eyes and I bit my lip.
"Morning." I said slightly smiling at her. She rolled her eyes and grabbed my shoulders.
"Morning breath Luke, morning breath." I smiled widely trying not to laugh because she was obviously trying to tell me my breath smelled bad. Yet, instead of turning me away, she pulled me in closer and nezzled her head in my chest wrapping her arms around my back. I sat there unable to move because her grip was so tight but I was unbothered.
"I miss this." She whispered.
"What do you mean?" I looked down at her.
"Remember when my dad passed away?" I nodded. "you were the only one I had, and when I just needed you, you were there, we didn't have to say a word we just sat here like this." I wanted to smile but it felt wrong to do so, I forgot about how close we were. I kissed her forehead and wrapped my arms around her as well, I guess we both needed this.
And for what seemed like forever, we sat there exchanging body heat and I never wanted to let go. I could hear her heart beat in my own ears like drums and the sound of it was so soothing.
